QUOTE(vergas @ May 12 2005, 08:27 AM) Ok I've found a network tools that allow me to traceroute and ping, I suppose it give the same answer as traceroute command in the terminal screen. Found it at traceroute and ping results seem to normal for dial-up speed on ubuntu and u should get result on Windows (tracert) too but marginal difference. applications > system tools > network tools My results are: Traceroute www.google.com.my Hop Hostname IP Time 1 Time 2 1 219.92.93.5 219.92.93.5 0.703ms # 1 sgb-nac02.tm.net.my 219.93.164.55 1788.554ms # 1 sgb-nac02.tm.net.my 219.93.164.55 2520.781ms # 2 219.93.157.209 219.93.157.209 asymm # 2 219.93.157.210 219.93.157.210 asymm # 2 219.93.157.225 219.93.157.225 asymm # 3 210.187.16.13 210.187.16.13 2127.494ms # 3 210.187.16.1 210.187.16.1 4113.486ms # 3 210.187.16.13 210.187.16.13 3479.618ms # 4 210.187.132.18 210.187.132.18 2203.577ms 4 210.187.133.18 210.187.133.18 4147.485ms 4 210.187.132.18 210.187.132.18 3515.619ms 5 klj-odsy02-srp1-0.tm.net.my 210.187.135.14 2236.531ms 5 klj-odsy02-srp1-0.tm.net.my 210.187.135.14 4043.548ms 5 klj-odsy02-srp1-0.tm.net.my 210.187.135.14 3392.660ms 6 210.187.133.83 210.187.133.83 2236.533ms 6 210.187.133.83 210.187.133.83 4112.530ms 6 210.187.133.83 210.187.133.83 3468.622ms 7 no reply * ??### 8 no reply * ?"$## 8 219.93.155.66 219.93.155.66 3754.485ms # 8 219.93.155.66 219.93.155.66 8143.769ms 8 219.93.155.66 219.93.155.66 7598.014ms # 10 no reply * # 11 no reply * # 12 no reply * # 13 no reply * # 14 send failed * # ping www.google.com.my Bytes Source Seq Time Units 64 66.102.7.147: 1 572 ms 64 66.102.7.147: 2 539 ms 64 66.102.7.147: 3 599 ms 64 66.102.7.147: 4 535 ms 64 66.102.7.147: 5 580 ms Time minimum: 535.00 ms Time average: 566.17 ms Time maximum: 599.00 ms Packets transmitted: 5 Packets received: 5 Packet loss: 0% Anybody can explain what it means. Based on testmy.net my speed using ubuntu is still at 7Kbs compared to using windows at 20Kbs. Also what are comparable windows command of traceroute? Thanks. If surfing was slow using firefox then read the posting above of how to configure firefox to disable the dns.ipv6 that might be the caused. QUOTE(jiyuu0 @ May 12 2005, 12:32 PM) I've read and manage to do a lot other tricks in the guide. Btw, nice guide you made, make me really proud as Malaysian. I'm slowly progressing using your guide.You point to guide for 5.04, however I'm using 4.10. There is a slight difference in 4.10 and 5.04, I'll paste it here for ease of reference. 4.10 Filter: -> network.dns.disableIPv6 -> Change the Value to true (Double click) 5.04 Filter: -> network.dns.disableIPv6 -> true network.http.pipelining -> true network.http.pipelining.maxrequests -> 8 network.http.proxy.pipelining -> true I have disable IPv6, since I follow the 4.10 guide, I guess I will try to follow 5.04's guide tonight. Thank you all and will update. |
