Ok I've found a network tools that allow me to traceroute and ping, I suppose it give the same answer as traceroute command in the terminal screen. Found it at

applications > system tools > network tools

My results are:

Anybody can explain what it means. Based on testmy.net my speed using ubuntu is still at 7Kbs compared to using windows at 20Kbs.

Also what are comparable windows command of traceroute?

Thanks.

traceroute and ping results seem to normal for dial-up speed on ubuntu and u should get result on Windows (tracert) too but marginal difference.

If surfing was slow using firefox then read the posting above of how to configure firefox to disable the dns.ipv6 that might be the caused.

I've read and manage to do a lot other tricks in the guide. Btw, nice guide you made, make me really proud as Malaysian. I'm slowly progressing using your guide.

You point to guide for 5.04, however I'm using 4.10. There is a slight difference in 4.10 and 5.04, I'll paste it here for ease of reference.

4.10
Filter: -> network.dns.disableIPv6 -> Change the Value to true (Double click)

5.04
Filter: ->
network.dns.disableIPv6 -> true
network.http.pipelining -> true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests -> 8
network.http.proxy.pipelining -> true

I have disable IPv6, since I follow the 4.10 guide, I guess I will try to follow 5.04's guide tonight.

Thank you all and will update.

#lsmod

Does the above command show IPV6 listed?

If yes, then do the following

Created a /etc/modprobe.conf file with the following lines:
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off

Reboot the system to check lsmod again make sure IPV6 not shown.

ipv4 is not listed on my Ubuntu 5.04. It could ur problem is similar to the above posting which requires dns.ipv6 on firefox config disable. Try this before attempting to create the /etc/modprobe.conf.
