hi im having a weird temp issue with my rig

i7-950
CM V6GT
Asus Sabertooth X58
Kingston hyperx C9 6gb
CM GTX 750 PSU
HAF 932 Case
Sapphire 6870 GPU

when it is not oc'ed, the temp is about 46 Celcius with no load, while running prime 95 it goes up to 70 Celcius. I tried OCing it to 4ghz and the temp went up to 87 degrees celcius while running prime95.. I've cleaned the V6GT and reapplied the thermal paste properly but the temp is still the same.. I dont think its because of the case.. room temp is about 30 celcius..

dude, its logical since ur using air cooler and that cm v6gt is not that good

us WC users also experience up to 80C ++ during load for 4.2 - 4.4 ghz .
*
owh thx for the info man.. for now V6GT is all i can afford.. what do u think of H70? is the performance almost as good as DIY WC? and what would be a safe temp for 4.0 Ghz overclock for i7-950? is 87 degrees still ok or what?

Hmm.. I run my 920@ 4Ghz every day. On stress it could reach 90c++, but no worry liao. It wont reach that temp. when you gaming. Only stress software could load the CPU to the max..
*
wow 90c++? thats quite high dude.. whats your idle temp? mine is about 49-52C.. i would prefer around 40C..

its not gonna degrade
its gonna die soon >.<"

btw, safe temp would be below 100C .
it dont matter much, if it reaches the threshold, it'll restart the PC .
so no biggie tongue.gif

ic ic.. bro ur using rampage 3 right? can u decrease ur cpu voltage to below 1.25?

should be good enough
although, 4.0 is more than good enough
above that is negligible already ^^,

spend whichever u prefer man
sooner or later they'll be obsolete as well
sandy will be replaced as well .

just be grateful with what u have and enjoy it to the max ^^,

P/S: words from someone wif no money to play other platform :'(

haha i like that quote.. sandy bridge came out 2 weeks after i bought my 950.. anyway monsh, i wanna ask your opinion. Whats the max frequency i should push my 950 with V6GT? In an AC condition, my load temp is 85 degrees, I OCed to 4ghz (23x174).. I wanna try OC to 23x192=~4.4Ghz.. Im sure the temp is gonna be 90++.. BTW bro, can i see your water cooling rig? Mcm cool gile jer full mobo WC

trying is ur fren
but please be reminded that after 4.2, the voltage scaling raise like crap
even me, im only using 4.2ghz cause 4.4 will make my room like sauna and temp reach 90 linX >.<"

4.2 is good enough already bro
play around wif ur ram instead .
oh and btw, picture nnt2 laa ye tongue.gif malas nak amek
haha

4.2ghz with HT on with i7 bloomfield series generate lot of heats. depends on ur chip, some even not enough with a triple rad.
*
tripple rad also not enough? damn thats hot.. i thought 3 rads can cool 2x580's and an OCed i7 9XX.

Debug code = 88?
*
i dont think its the processor..
i think its either mobo, ram or PSU..
try to check the PSU..
if the PSU is okay, try using just a single ram
if the rams are okay, then might just be your mobo short circuit or something.. this could happen if theres alot of dust.
