Tentatively these are my SEA travel plans for 2013, feel free to contact me if you happen to be in these places and the said time. We could share tips or even better, meet up and explore the places together:

03/03/2013:
Cambodia, starting with Siem Reap and ending in Phnom Penh
(2 weeks+)

Around 20/3/2013:
Vietnam, crossing the border from Cambodia, train to central Vietnam and finally ending in Sapa
(3 weeks+)

Around 10/4/2013:
Yunnan, China, crossing the border from Vietnam and ending in Shangri-La/Zhongdian
(2 weeks)

Around 25/4/2013:
Sichuan, China, crossing (hopefully) the border from Shangri-La to West Sichuan and finally ending in Chengdu.
(2 weeks+)

By middle of May, should be back to Malaysia.

flight = 1.6k Air Asia X
hostel = 1.2k
transport = 800
eat, attraction = 1.2k

total = below 5k, if you really save can go around 3.5k - 4k

Quick question mate, does the living expenses cost for a visit differ greatly between say Tokyo and Osaka area?

i believe it is more expensive in Tokyo compared to Osaka...

for example, 1 nite stay for hostel:
Tokyo = 3000+ yen
Osaka = 2600+ yen
