1. yes its capable to play dvd ( region 3 )

2. dont ever try to play pirated dvd at your ps3

3. my suggestion if you wanna play dvd kindly use PC or a DVD player , PS3 just use for playing BD games and BD movies

im using ps3 slim 250gb final fantasy 13 lightning edition ( already 1 year 3 month old ) which is ceramic white color , there is no single yellowish on it .. by the way i do wipe my ps3 slim with soft cloth ( the one to wipe LCD TV screen ) , once a month

the problem of JB ps3 is because of demand , those who want top notch gaming system but supporting piracy .. they want outstanding games here and there to be develop by publisher but not willing to spend on it
