i'm guessing huntelaar, with maybe babel in a swap deal. i personally would rather have babel say, but since we dont have money....

doubt lucas is going and diarra is not coming to be 2nd choice here

well, i'm suprised that u guys are suprised to see that sunderland can beat mancity when the previous game they outplayed us and came out 3-0 winners. the ball is round, sunderland beating manc, doesnt mean they surely beat us. whats wrong with u guys ?

i didnt catch the game, n i'm watching the highlights now, well, m just glad that we signed meireles quickly as chelsea and manu were both keeping tabs on his situation as he had only a year left running in his contract with porto. a striker is a priority now as konchesky looks like a done deal.

On the 28th of August, German club Schalke 04 and A.C. Milan reached an agreement to sell Huntelaar to the Bundesliga side for a fee of around €14 million, to allow room for Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimović

Second that. Misplace passes and didn't do much at all.Worse than Lucas in terms of performances.

Anyway, overall, the performance we produced was disastrous.

Besides Torres who was trying his best, the rest were practically invisible throughout the match. This is what I think of their performance.

Reina:
Looked calm in front of goal.Didn't do much as most of the shots were tame shots. Rating: 6

Glenny:
Was poor in general. Keep insisting to beat the player despite being stopped by the opponents repeatedly throughout the match. His PREDICTABLE dribbling skill makes it easy for the opponent. Rating: 5

Carra:
Gave his best in the match.Made few decent tackles. Nothing more. His lack of pace always means that some player gonna beat the shit out of him.Being outpaced by the opponents at least 2 times in the game. Rating: 5

Skrtel:
I can see that he was trying to give his all in the match. However, this is not wrestling match. For that kind of dragging and pushing he made, he could easily cost us few penalties. He is lucky to escape the cards and the penalties because the referee is linear enough to let him go.Also, in one of the corner for West Brom, he actually lose the target he supposed to guard. Poor defending from him.The positive is, that shot he made.Pretty close... Rating: 5

Agger:
Being played in LB yet again.Out of position from time to time. Most of the time, I saw him in the box rather than in the flank which is why in the first half, a lot of the long ball from West Brom was aimed at the left flank and not the right flank. The good thing is, he reads the game well and tackles well too. That compensate for the lack of pace in him. Rating: 5

Kuyt:
Was better in second half. His assist was well deserved. Well placed crossing.Gave in an ok performance. Rating: 6

Poulsen:
Misplaced passes.Practically invisible in the game. Rating: 4

Lucas:
Looks decent in passing the ball in the second half. Could be better if he can slide in more tackles.Good run in getting Morrison sent off. Rating: 5

Gerrard
Put in few delighted passes that would have won us the game if Torres scored them. However, he seems unmotivated throughout the match.Pretty much invisible besides the few quality passes. Rating: 5

Jovanovic:
I am starting to like him. Always try his best on pitch. Pity him get dragged down by the leg for no reason. However, one thing I noticed is that he lacks the finishing. Two times he got the chance in the box, he  blew them wide. One during the Arsenal match. Another one, tonight. Overall, a decent performance. Rating: 6

Torres:
Kinda impressed when I saw Torres chasing the ball, tackling and closing down the opponents.Worth mentioning is that his understanding with Gerrard is still as good as the past. His performance? His 50th goal at Anfield says it all.For the numbers of chances we created for him, I consider him to play well. Rating:7

==========================================================================
P.S:

Cant find a better day.

THREE POINTS

Torres' 50th goal at anfield.

Our 2000th victory

New Number 4

Tottenham, MC all lose.

Finally someone brought up the issue of Insua? Is that guy leaving already? If he's set to leave I hope the club doesn't waste any more time and just release him.

Funny Roy should say he would like to sign another striker because I believe our main problem is the LB. We've resigned Aurelio but he has yet to be played (Benched? Injured? You can't even argue that he hasn't 'settle down' since he was a Liverpool player lolx!) and Agger cannot play there every game.

do u see Konchesky in anfield yesterday? its nearly confirm konchesky will transfer to liverpool and da valle will move to fulham. i think now they discussing about term.

striker? c.cole is not bad, yes he is not form in west ham, but look at their partner. if c.cole plays with other quality players behind me like gerrard, j.cole or meireles, i'm sure he will be good. his game robust which is what our striker need at the moment.

roy's tactic when he was in fulham 4-4-2, but at the mean time he's using 4-4-1-1 in liverpool. another striker need to give another dimension of our attacking. NGog is good but not good enough. Babel is same. all 3 strikers are not robust and tough striker that we need.

In a way, I'm kind of glad that Roy Hodgson is the one managing Liverpool now. I never liked the idea of the former Fulham manager managing us, but if he can lead us to the title, why should I mind? I am watching Liverpool now instead of hoping Liverpool win just to shut all the critics towards RB.

Usually, I'd be like, ok, 3 matches, 2 against big guns and we dropped points, 1 gain 3, it's still a decent season. But with RH, I tend to think otherwise and he has yet to prove to us that he can do things better, no attacking fluid, more like a mid table team playing where fortune can be a big thing for us. Last night I saw a replica of a Fulham team playing instead of a Liverpool team playing in their own ground. A slight touch of fortune won us the game, similar to how a mid table team would win against a strong opposition. We had to thank Torres for his magical volley though.

Signings so far has been alright, not exactly world class but do we need 1 world class player and sacrifice two/three decent to good players? Let's be fair, yes we lost Mascherano, but we have got Meireles, Poulsen, Cole, etc. More good players instead of 1 world class player to add depth into our team, maybe this is where Rafa screwed up. A Torres could have been 1 Huntelaar and a decent attacking midfielder, not that I dislike Torres.

Llorente did quite well for Spain in the WC, he can hold up play and threaten people with his physicality and height, that's why he is nicknamed the "Spanish Peter Crouch". He may add more dimension in our attacking method. smile.gif

I hope he comes though. He's young still learning....it's a bargain if we can get him below 15m pounds.

but we need player that ready for BPL game culture. no doubt Llorente is a good player. but i'm afraid he is too fragile in robust BPL game. and this is waht Roy afraid of. Taivonen is good, but is he suitable in BPL game? do we need to gamble him in this season?

lilredridinghood, Meireles is a world class player but Poulsen is just a average player.

it was a very poor game last night, but we need to know our players morale are so low now since last season. we need to lift it up even it just a slightly win.
