I have a mixed feeling on Masch leaving.Firstly, it's undeniable that he had been always giving his best whenever he is on the pitch. To see him running around from the end of the pitch to the other end, chasing players, closing them down, those sliding tackles he made,is really a joy to watch...Something I never forget about him is that he made a slide tackle in a match against Reading few years back and that assisted Torres to score.Another incident was when we scored the winning goal at Old Trafford against MU, he celebrated as if he was the one scoring....That celebration was priceless...

However, no one is perfect. He started to push for a move last season when he thought that he is underpaid.Rafa ask him to prove his worth and earned the contract...He did and Rafa offered him one.He was close to signing it until we were confirmed that we lose out the 4th place. Then, he didn't sign it until now.To refuse to play, with the so called " not in the state of mind" was pathetic.Family problem, whatnot, only masch knows.

But, lets thank him for his service all these years.

shite deal we got for masch. too cheap..

dissapointed cant get bigger sums of money. he was nobody when rafa took him in. rafa even got slagged by the media because paying big money for him. then he become big and his wife want more money. so off he goes.

thanks for the good memories. now GTFO

Apparently, according to mirror, we are getting 18m pound with 4mil add ons.Seems like we are just trying to sell him off by avoiding to lose him on free...Yanks' idea to gain back the fee paid for Masch? sweat.gif

I dont know if anyone see the article on Marvinga, our leftback in reserves blasting RH last week.He said RH never give foreign starlet their chances. If it's true, then we know why Lauri Dalla Valle and Alex Kacaniklic get shipped out.

Javier Mascherano blasts back at Roy Hodgson insisting he did not go on strike at Liverpool

The Argentina midfielder, who left Liverpool for Barcelona in a £22million switch on Friday, claims he remained 100 per cent professional but Kop boss Roy Hodgson had branded him “selfish” when he withdrew from Monday’s clash with Manchester City in a bid to force through the transfer.

But Mascherano, 26, said: “I showed at Liverpool that I am always 100 per cent professional and nobody can doubt that.

“Against Manchester City I was not right to play. I spoke with the coach and he understood my position. It was better for the team.

“I have never had any problems with the new coach – I accepted his orders and Roy Hodgson would confirm it.

“My team-mates knew it was my decision and did not say anything about it to me.”

Mascherano – who passed a medical yesterday and will be unveiled by Barca tomorrow – has agreed a four-year, £90,000-a-week contract with the Spanish champions.

But he insists he did not go to the Nou Camp for the money.

He said: “Liverpool will always be in my heart, but my time there has finished and now it is time for a new challenge.

“I have not left Liverpool to join Barcelona for money, just for sporting reasons. The Barca project is very exciting. They have been interested in me in the past and this second opportunity to join them was impossible to reject.

“I will for ever be grateful to Liverpool for what they did for me, but I have done all I can for them on the pitch in return.

“The fans were always brilliant with me and now I must wait to see if they view my exit negatively. That is football.”

Mascherano has been a wanted man this summer, with ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez keen to be reunited with the Argentina captain at Inter Milan.

But when long-time admirers Barcelona joined the race, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Mascherano, whose wife refused to move to England, flirted with them last summer but agreed to stay on at Anfield for one more season.

He added: “Inter was the first option, Rafa wanted me for his new project, but my family and the challenge Barcelona provides made me choose Spain.

“Lionel Messi was also a big influence. He spoke with Pep Guardiola and told him Barcelona needed me.”

QUOTE(nando @ Aug 30 2010, 12:40 AM)
I thought Poulsen was terrible...but given his first game....maybe better future performances...
*
Second that. Misplace passes and didn't do much at all.Worse than Lucas in terms of performances.

Anyway, overall, the performance we produced was disastrous.

Besides Torres who was trying his best, the rest were practically invisible throughout the match. This is what I think of their performance.

Reina:
Looked calm in front of goal.Didn't do much as most of the shots were tame shots. Rating: 6

Glenny:
Was poor in general. Keep insisting to beat the player despite being stopped by the opponents repeatedly throughout the match. His PREDICTABLE dribbling skill makes it easy for the opponent. Rating: 5

Carra:
Gave his best in the match.Made few decent tackles. Nothing more. His lack of pace always means that some player gonna beat the shit out of him.Being outpaced by the opponents at least 2 times in the game. Rating: 5

Skrtel:
I can see that he was trying to give his all in the match. However, this is not wrestling match. For that kind of dragging and pushing he made, he could easily cost us few penalties. He is lucky to escape the cards and the penalties because the referee is linear enough to let him go.Also, in one of the corner for West Brom, he actually lose the target he supposed to guard. Poor defending from him.The positive is, that shot he made.Pretty close... Rating: 5

Agger:
Being played in LB yet again.Out of position from time to time. Most of the time, I saw him in the box rather than in the flank which is why in the first half, a lot of the long ball from West Brom was aimed at the left flank and not the right flank. The good thing is, he reads the game well and tackles well too. That compensate for the lack of pace in him. Rating: 5

Kuyt:
Was better in second half. His assist was well deserved. Well placed crossing.Gave in an ok performance. Rating: 6

Poulsen:
Misplaced passes.Practically invisible in the game. Rating: 4

Lucas:
Looks decent in passing the ball in the second half. Could be better if he can slide in more tackles.Good run in getting Morrison sent off. Rating: 5

Gerrard
Put in few delighted passes that would have won us the game if Torres scored them. However, he seems unmotivated throughout the match.Pretty much invisible besides the few quality passes. Rating: 5

Jovanovic:
I am starting to like him. Always try his best on pitch. Pity him get dragged down by the leg for no reason. However, one thing I noticed is that he lacks the finishing. Two times he got the chance in the box, he blew them wide. One during the Arsenal match. Another one, tonight. Overall, a decent performance. Rating: 6

Torres:
Kinda impressed when I saw Torres chasing the ball, tackling and closing down the opponents.Worth mentioning is that his understanding with Gerrard is still as good as the past. His performance? His 50th goal at Anfield says it all.For the numbers of chances we created for him, I consider him to play well. Rating:7

==========================================================================
P.S:

Cant find a better day.

THREE POINTS

Torres' 50th goal at anfield.

Our 2000th victory

New Number 4

Tottenham, MC all lose.

yeah but sacrificing Dalla Valle for Konchesky? based on frequent reserve team match goer and videos on the net, Dalla Valle is the purest prospect to succeed Torres. though I believe this is purslow doings, but i cant helped to think that RH should do more to block it. RH rated Dalla Valle so highly last season he wanted to sign him for Fulham but Rafa reject.

rafa hard work to bring all these youths will be go down the drain...

What with all the hype about Pacheco ? Is he really talented like Sturridge, Kakuta, Chicharito, Macheda etc. Rafa never believe him even as sub and RH also now.

Pacheco should play this game / Pacheco better than N'gog / Pacheco should partner Torres / Pacheco can score that chance bla bla bla bla. WTF !

WTF with an manu fans doing here by posting negative posts over and over again? NBTD? Just go do something meaningful instead of posting rubbish here. doh.gif

suarez's track record on paper is quite impressive... and he's only 23.

laugh.gif If he plays on field and, reina get sent off, we can use him as keeper. No need to use any subs tongue.gif
