Just got my G73JH-FHD. biggrin.gif

Setting up some stuff,i have a question, where do i get to download Funmark?

I want to push my G73 to the max to see whether do i need repasting or not. Or to find any stability issues.

Plan to get yourself a notebook with blu-ray drive? smile.gif For me, it is kinda useless as I have no blu-ray discs. laugh.gif

well, planning to ask my bro to help me buy some 2nd hand bluray movies from UK, they can go as low at 3 pounds (usually 5 pounds) imo its a very good price for original.

Thinking of adding a 2nd 500GB hard drive instead of changing the first one to a momentus XT. What do you think?

cause i can afford around 100 USD of upgrade only, so its either bluray + 500GB vs momentus XT only.
*
Both have their own pros and cons IMHO. If you expect a faster boot up, momentus might contributes to your need. As for 500 GB normal HDD, it can serves you in terms of capacity. icon_rolleyes.gif

Go for Momentus XT.

Im loving those 2 i have now. laugh.gif

Windows boots under 1 minute. Games like BFBC2 launch under seconds. Could be just because of the fast processor and Win 7.

Give me one week, and i could let you know how good is Momentus XT as it takes about 1 week to save all the essential files in the SSD.

Listen to him as he is using it now. He can give you a more correct consumer's exp. thumbup.gif

Dont know, but never felt so fast. laugh.gif

Well, apparently, after 1 week of usage, it's gonna be even faster.

10 hours with my new G73.

Still not really used to the new keyboard, as i always pressed some random numpad buttons accidentally whenever i type something.
*
Agree! The right arrow button is kinda to near to the numpad buttons. It failed me always. laugh.gif

In terms of gaming benchmarks, NVidia GTX460M has a lower score than ATi HD5870 if I'm not mistaken. smile.gif

GentechPC or XoticPC, both have very good representatives, i prefer xoticpc though, they seemed.. more professional. but alas, the deliver was slightly more expensive so I opted for Gentech.

yes it is indeed cheaper to get from US rather than SGD, even at conversion rate of 3.14, you'll most likely get that number nowadays when doing TT. Delivery will cost you around 100+ USD.

when i calculated my total cost, it came down to RM5.7k, which is cheaper than SGD 2500 = approx. RM6k.
*
Yea. Both of them are really GOOD in CS. thumbup.gif

hm, I hope my delivery calculations are correct, using comgateway pricing, i got under 100USD (70USD actually since the weight i got for the G53 is 8kg)
if it goes over 100 USD.... there goes my budget... maybe can't get rokkat kave =\

i also remember ken posting some temperature benchmarks and with the stock paste the G53 was quite cool...
*
When is the estimated arrival time for your G53?

hahha not entirely sure yet. I placed my order already... but i think its still under pre-order, something about running out of hdd brackets? (i think someone said that's what happened to his pre-order he placed back in september)

So i probably have to wait awhile.
*
Yea. I heard from others that G53 now is lacking of HDD bracket and have to wait for a while. If I'm not mistaken, Ken said that almost every Asus notebooks have diff. HDD brackets. smile.gif

astria said his one is quiet.

I did google it, seems like some people are also complaining a lot about the noise level of Momentus XT.

In the nutshell, this Momentus XT HDD has faulty design?

Added on October 26, 2010, 7:51 pm hi if u compare the asus g73jw with the alienware m17x which do u pick?
*
For me, I certainly will choose Asus G73Jw as it has higher performance/ price ratio. It is way way way cheaper than AW M17x and it has a spectacular specs too. In terms of quality, Asus has improved a lot since G73 gaming notebooks. Brand new cooling system and it has 2 years global warranty too. brows.gif

unless you really want the bling bling lights that alienware has... but imo, the G73 has a better design... you can look up putochip if you want to get the alienware cheaper... i think now he doing M15x for 4.8K MYR.... so wait until he got the M17x instock

price dropped by 20USD on the G53jw =\
*
I'm agree with you too that I still prefer Asus plain design compared to AW bling bling design. brows.gif
