its just a statement that leaked out from Google

The naming is very predictable. Following the pattern of sweetened food like donut and froyo you will know what to find for be it western or french confectionery.

If Gingerbread rumor is true, Froyo should be the OS for the mainstream while Gingerbread is for the Flagship and Honeycomb maybe an update for both flagship and mainstream maybe? hmmm.. so much possibilites..

Yeah, I do really hope they continue the development on 2.2 branch - as most of the current Android users (heck, maybe even HTC Desire) won't be able to get any 3.x update.

It's no good for Android users if the mid-range device they buy today won't be getting any updates as Google is only concentrating on 3.x

I'd like for them to continue updating and cleaning up 2.1 Eclair firmware. A generous amount of Android users are running on this!

btw the time honeycomb out(should be mid 1st quarter next year), i think 1ghz phone are mid range already.

Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 like Tegra2 will fit the job nicely...

Added on September 3, 2010, 1:16 pmI dont think its wise for Google to stay stagnant now. Android 2.x is nearing perfection liao. I cant see any major improvement from them after the implementation of JIT and Kernel upgrade. Its time to move onto something better. As a smartphone, I think Froyo already beat a lot of expectations. What I would like to see now is a full fledge Tablet OS from them. Time to ditch netbook for Tablet has finally come...

interesting that we knw only bout the name of the 3.1 firmware but nothingelse..

pls dun get so excited too soon.. lets wait for gingerbread first
