always say no to the package offered by shop. even if they give u good price on the camera itself, they will always overcharge the so-called "free items" or package whatsoever. fact is, u can always buy those filter, bag, tripod etc cheaper.

kuro0314: Buy another battery, and get into the 'rhythm' of the battery - I went for the A33/A55 product launch with heavy usage from 1pm and ended up with 34% at 8pm. Soon you'll be able to budget your battery power wisely.

The Sony SLT-A55 is an excellent all-rounder with a comprehensive feature set. The translucent mirror technology gives it an innovative touch and the best live view AF on the market. Continuous shooting performance is the best in its class - just don't plan on shooting the Olympics with it.

even with the translucent mirror, the video quality still lost to Canon 550D base on dpreview

It is not uncommon for merchants to "swap" stock. for all we know, your online merchant may not have his own stock or his own brick & mortar shop. he may be taking stock from a normal camera shop, earning a few bucks by passing the stock to you. this is a common practice among merchants (me included). it is also not uncommon to have a broken seal camera box, because he may had to open the box to see if everything is inside or not. Or maybe he had opened the box for another buyer to see, but last minute, the buyer said dun want to buy (hey, not surprising but it happens...).

However, it is unethical not have explained why the seal was broken beforehand (he could had told you he opened it earlier to check), and it is even more unethical to sell you overpriced filters to cover his cost and said "that's the way business goes". to me, that is pure bullsh!t. 

So i guess it is a lesson well learnt for you, Eugene. Do your research right. Know what you need to buy and what you don't need to buy. I remember a couple years back, this thread is full of advises on what to do when confronting sales person in a camera shop. One of the most repeated advise is to survey the price for the cheapest camera equipment and buy ONLY the camera equipment you intend to get. do not get the accessories because they are going to jack up the price to cover their reduced margin from selling you the camera equipment cheaper. It is an age-old trick which seems to work, every time. unfortunately, it is you this time...... 

mmm funny noone answer u. well, its hard to say, i find nex 16mm and 18-55 very nice (my opinion),
the issue is, E mount (nex) lens cant be used on A mount if in the future, u upgrade to alpha DSLR (or DTLR)
but A mount lens can be used on E mount with adapter.

does anyone know is a33 and a55 start selling here already? kena poison by the photos taken..

A55 already available in malaysia jor. I heard from a sony alpha/handycam seller who work in fotokem. He just came back from training for A55 few days ago

most HDR processing brings out a lot of noise. i'm still n00b in HDR. anyone got tips?
