I dont actually believe in Quadrant score now.. the desire has been very snappy at just stock speed and usable as a daily driver (stable too) but didnt get so superb impressive quadrant score.. yes, we know that quadrant is not just about raw processing, UI and UX is another factor that quadrant cant actually calculate but only can be felt in the hands of the user.. No use of getting high quadrant but still lags and no use of applying certain patch and fix if it only gives a better quadrant score only.

stock android VS HTC Sense, im going for HTC Sense. Very usable and eye catchy. There is no need to waste ram using 3rd party launchers and widget to make your phone look nice. HTC Sense served me well on the Desire. Im very looking forward for the next Android UI. I hope that its gonna be cool and have scrolling widgets on the HS. On the other hand, i would love to see HTC Sense gets updated just like they said during the android garage. HTC Sense is what makes HTC phones appeal. HTC Sense does much better compared to other custom UI and deserves to be considered as the best custom UI.  rclxms.gif

you know what, i actually agreed with you on the hTC Sense, this is the main reason why i have chosen hTC Desire over Samsung Galaxy S...when i try out the Galaxy S, i was kinda disappointed with the widget available, example there's no text widget, no music player widget (Samsung)...sure there are plenty alternatives available, but i was disappointed nevertheless...

i like the way hTC implement small but significant features on their phones...to me, their People feature, which integrates with FB, is among the best, ok it's buggy, but it have the looks and functionality...i like the hTC calendar widget too, with 2.2 i read the calendar widget will show events from FB as well...
as with all software it's not perfect, like i would have like to customise the lower part hTC Sense, ie the all programs + phone + (+) bar, and smaller text widget with "mark as read" option...

P/S: the polite ringtone feature can even be used to impress people... whistling.gif

finally 2.2 update for desire is out...but now i'm deciding whether to update or not...

i mean i considering to get rooting, not for custom ROM (kinda tired of flashing custom ROM honestly, back to the days when i was using Touch HD) but for the A2SD+ feature...i know 2.2 support A2SD but it require developer to enable that as well and widget cant be put into the microSD...i do hope that someone will be able to hack and make root for the new hboot...

ok la, i go home and spam the update button...after update, will let you know....

keeping my hand crossed new root method for this new hboot, since EVO 4G has root for 2.2, i hope it wont be too long for Desire...

finally updated...

my first impression:
- video playback seems smoother, at least the lip sync problem is no longer that obvious
- browser is fast, much faster than on 2.1
- pink hue not that obvious anymore, but i think got gradient banding especially panning the hTC website
- can use as torchlight? whistling.gif
- voice search, but need data connection

that's all for now...

overall the phone feel snappier, now where is that raging thunder game and need for speed....

hey guys, just installed froyo..and im wondering why most of the apps unavailable to move to sd cards?
*
that's because the developers have to enable that feature...

that why i like teh concept of A2SD+ so much...it automatically move those apps to the SD card...

What Statistics you want?
*
i LOL'ed... tongue.gif

Honestly, vinlimyh, why you need numbers? you like it means you like it, if you dont like it, even if the statistics numbers are high you also wont feel like using it...

BTW anyone notice that the contact's birthday is not the same as in FB? on the phone it showed one day slower...

Yeah weird...it's one day slower in the contact. But somehow in the Agenda / Calendar the birthday shown from facebook is accurate
*
now i got two birthdays on my contact...one is the one i put in, while another is the pull from FB...and the date from FB seems to be a day earlier for me...
Example:
the website will show 31st August, while on my phone it will state 30th August...strange...

I don't know a fix, but I know it shows 1 days earlier when the contact enters only the DAY and MONTH of their birthday.
Those with YEAR entered is correct.
*
mine is still showing a day earlier, with year entered on the phone and FB....
even 3rd party app like EboBirthday is displaying the birthday 1 day earlier...is this 2.2's issue as EboBirthday was displaying the correct date in 2.1?

i have send an email to hTC support, let see what hTC said...

not good, this is the reply I got back from hTC...just as i fear, had to do a hard reset...

i tried create a new dummy contact and link to a FB contact that i havent link before and the birthday display correctly...but instead of factory reset, i think i'm going to clean clear data in the Contact Storage and FB for hTC Sense and remove FB for hTC Sense account..hopefully it solves the problem...

Dear KayK,

Thank you for contacting HTC. With reference to your query, I'm afraid you have to perform a hard reset on your hand phone as the following procedure: 1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button. 2. Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button. 3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER. When asked to confirm, press VOLUME UP. Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed. After that, in case the problem still exists, we would suggest that you may send your phone to our service center for further assistance. Details for our service center will be: HTC Care Center Service time: Mon to Fri: 10am to 6pm, Saturday: 10am to 3pm Closed on Sunday & Public Holidays Location: 1, HarbourFront Ave, #01-06 Keppel Bay Tower, Singapore 098632 Please kindly bring in the invoice or receipt for verifying the warranty period. Hmm... so, have u tried hard resetting and c if the date is correct now? if yes, i will do a hard reset too...
*
nope dont do a hard reset, hope i'm not too late to inform you...it doesnt solve the problem, well not 100%...

after HR, i even take the hard way of keying the contacts one by one instead of using hTC Sync to restore back my contacts, guess what 90% still showing the wrong birthday on the calendar and contacts, while some are showing correctly...

You might need to downgrade the Bootloader then only you're able to root it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189  tongue.gif  Happy rooting.
