Hey all pro , I got Jasper set modded and wanna play avi files on it then it says need to media update can play the file ..

Should I update ? What will happen ? My console is modded ,later update will it only play original games ? Need help thanks

your console are modded,so sonner or later your console will get ban after all (ban thru internet of course,if offline dont worry)
so just update it,if first time connecting modded xbox thru internet,nothing will happen,MS not gonna ban u rite after connecting,so dont worry,just update it

Do I need to buy the membership just to download the media update ?

I just want the update to play avi file to watch movie on my LCD .. Not going to play online thru or do have any alternative to get to play the file ?

mine's update online fine, but if you scare, you can always update offline.

what error thing ? can u give more detail ? and make sure your offline gamertag are the same for online or your gamerscore gonna hilang

maybe u type your email wrong or your email already been use to create the online profile for the xbox 360 ? or maybe when u want to make online gamertag it already been taken by someone else

Peter, how did you do it? I'm looking for the update too as mine is also modded. Did you do it online tjrough xbox live?

You can download SYSTEMUPDATE and update offline. Just format a thumbdrive in FAT32 format (NTFS won't work) and copy the the system file over, plug in ur thumbdrive to the XBOX and boot.

For the media update, YOU MUST CONNECT to XBOX LIve. No worries anyway, just go online and update, if you're using modded console, why worry of ban?? The latest SYSTEMUPDATE prevents banning of hard disk, so you still can install games to ur HDD (previous ban will disable ur hard disk also, now it just ban online connection).

Added on September 22, 2010, 9:06 amCannot. But you can stream the movie from a PC using either Windows Media Centre or software like TVERSITY which can transcode the file and stream to your XBOX. I've done it before...but there were too many problems...not worth the trouble.

TVersity stream and transcode MKV just fine assuming you've got a decent performing PC and a wired connection to the xbox. you're gonna have trouble playing MKV with subs though.

i've done the formatting of my 4GB thumb drive, downloaded the system update file, and copied all the files into the root of the folder, exactly like how they explained in xbox.com.

but when i plug my thumbdrive into the xbox and turn it on, nothing happens. i go straight into my dashboard as usual. how come?

Did u format NTFS or FAT32?

why did that microsoft not ban the hdd now ?

Added on September 22, 2010, 7:43 pmThere are 11 files, file number from 0-7, su2007, and a sytstem manifest. total space taken is 83MB. i formatted the thumbdrive via right click-format. set to FAT32 (default) and default allocation size. then i extract the 11 files contained in the folder of the $systemupdate9199.zip.

Because MS kena tembak left, right and centre for simply banning people. A lot of legit user also kena. They are trying to avoid a law suit.
