Guys, I've rooted my Spice Mi700, but it seems that the Wifi function is affected. I setup the wifi connection from Spice to my PC in order to use my PC internet. It was fine until I rooted Spice. Now every time I connect to my PC, it will try to obtain IP address, then disconnect and disable the connection. Any one else has this problem?

QUOTE(anakrantau @ Oct 25 2010, 02:39 PM) I've no problem with my Spice after rooting..can use my Wireless ADSL at home to connect my Spice for stable internet.. I can also use my Spice as a hotspot whenever I go out of house with my laptop (Spice used as hotspot use my internet digi prepaid, while my laptop connect to them via WiFi). So both will can online at the sametime using one digi sim Using Spice as hotspot is more convenient as we just click the data & hotspot option and it will go online automatically..no need to reconnect as we use mobilepartner at laptop.. Maybe using wifi router is ok. But I want to connect my Spice to my PC via wifi AND use my PC internet connection, since I don't have a wifi router, not even considering to have one... It was ok before rooting... Say, how do you configure your Spice to connect to internet via 3G SIM? I have DIGI BB, but can't get it to work on my Spice. The DIGI OCS is not familiar with the unit, thus couldn't provide any useful hint. I could go online with my DIGI postpaid though, but it will cost me a fortune to do that...

I was told by the DIGI OCS that for normal phone number and BB number to access internet, the APN is different. Other than that, they couldn't provide more info about the settings. The Spice Mi700 has a lot of settings for configuring internet via SIM...
As for the booklet, I don't recall getting something like that when I subscribed BB. Maybe I need to recheck the package...

Like I said earlier, they are as clueless as me when it comes to configuring the Mi700. All they can advise were:
1) Use diginet for APN to try 2) Do not 3gdgnet as that is only for configuration using the modem 3) Leave usename and password blank 4) Use my DIGI postpaid SIM in Mi700 to get GPRS setting over SMS
As you'd expect, none of these worked. I may consult CSL about this, but I have a nasty feeling they will refer this as 'network-related' and push me over to DIGI...

QUOTE(anakrantau @ Oct 26 2010, 06:14 AM) I am also have not setting any APN configuration on the CSL Spice. Last time the sales person on CLS help me insert the sim to my Spice and I told him to teach me on how to manage the connection. He said there is no extra setting to be made, just enable the data option in Mobile Network Setting. (Settings > Wireless & Network settings > Mobile Network settings > check the "Data Enable" option. ) That's what I was told, but by the DIGI OCS. Tried deleting all APN settings and restore default values (assuming the Spice utilizing my 3G SIM to get settings over the network) but to no avail... Maybe I'll fiddle with the settings again later. Anyway, I finally figured out my wifi connection problem. It turned out my PC lost the local networking settings I made earlier for some unknown reasons. Once I reestablish the settings, the connection was fine. Wonder why...

Yeah, that's what I thought. On non-BB lines, they still charge 10k = RM0.10, so your friend was in the shock of his/her life, I presume. But what can I say, 7" is damn nice to browse internet and stuff, not to mention it loads YT like smooth butter... I tried it over wifi and it was (almost) a dream...
Maybe users of other BB operators can share their settings with us? Please?

No, this unit does not support flash, according to Adobe. The last time I tried to download straight from Adobe site, it identifies Mi700 as using a linux OS, which of course couldn't install the said package... Anyway, rumor has it Adobe 'might' consider to add ARM11 into their support lineup. Let's hope that happens in near future. Right now, only those have Cortex A8 CPU can support Flash 10.1. Guys, I just came back from the recent PC Fair and I noticed the new batch of Mi700 has an updated firmware (something to the effect of PR3.7****), which has an option of 'software update' in the status tab. I tried asking the guy manning the booth about this but he just walk out on me. This is just plain rude...
Any of you guys have this firmware on board?

QUOTE(raoul @ Apr 18 2011, 05:02 PM) Yes..mine have the "Software Update" tab but it's useless as CSL Malaysia does not have any OTA (Over The Air) updates till now. I have even called their CS Dept and they said they have no plans to have any new FW update or 2.3 update. Kind of lousy support from CSL Malaysia. Yeah, that's what I got when I emailed them few months ago. Will look into the MoDaCo ROM installation later...
