yup fastfret is basically oil/lubricant that makes your string slippery
and ALSO protects it from rust little info, if you play your guitar everyday like I do, the natural oil from your fingers will prevent rusting... to a degree |

Buy Elixir anti-rust strings. Cost you about RM4X-5X for electric strings. But its worth it. the strings will not rust for a long, long time.

For me, the best way to keep your guitar strings bright for a longer period of time is to wipe off the strings before and after playing the guitar. make it a habit.
Additionally, i prefer to put the guitars back to their casing and close it while you are not playing it rather than let it hang outside on a guitar rack. Protip: take some silicon gel (but not too much) that you normally find in boxes that keeps the insides of the box dry and put them in your guitar cases. Prevents moisture creeping inside the guitar case that could rust the strings up. |

QUOTE(imzan @ Aug 16 2010, 04:55 AM) i think... it's more expensive buying a set of rm20+ strings and clean it with rm20+ fastfret strings cleaner. I rather buy a set of elixir strings, it lasts me a year without rusting, just need to wipe the strings with dry cloth everytime after playing. This post has been edited by la bella: Aug 16 2010, 09:53 AM |

Hmm maybe, but there was one time where I didnt play for a few days just to find my strings rust - and that was a brand new set of strings I think it's more of a factor of humidity - like most things outside would naturally rust Not sure, I don't wipe my strings... except when cleaning the dirt |

If our body oil can prevent rust then we do not need to wipe the strings after playing? Exactly. Its the sweat from the hands getting on the strings that speeds up the corrosion. Wiping the strings clean and dry after playing will go a long ways to making the strings last longer.Added on August 17, 2010, 9:45 pmif can play well $10 set of strings will still sound great. if you are noob player $300 strings will still make you sound like a noob player...... a rich noob player!
