Autofocus Problem on Entry Level Body.

Many have ask about the problem of AF(AutoFocus) on entry level body, the problem here is whether the camera body has build-in AF motor or not. And unfortunately, for Nikon's entry level body, they don't come with build-in AF motor, hence in order to autofocus, the camera have to rely on the lens. While the lens must have its build-in AF motor, since the absent of the body AF motor. So, in Nikon's line-up, we have the "AF-S" and "AF-I" lens which has build-in SWM motor for the lens. Therefore, user of the entry level body, will have to look for lenses which has build-in AF motor in order for the autofocus function, else, the user will have to end up doing manual focusing.

While for the "AF" or "AF-D" lens from Nikon, it still can be mount on the camera, but since there is no AF motor in both the camera body as well as the lens, then the user have to work on for manual focus ONLY. On the other hand, the medium to high end of Nikon camera body will come with build-in AF motor, hence it allow the user to achieve autofocus through the camera's motor rotating the lens' element.
Below is for illustration,

Body without build-in AF motor.

Beware if you go from aircond room to warm room. Condensation will happen.
*
opposite happens in winter country =x
from outdoor to indoor

QUOTE(ayrton @ Aug 16 2010, 11:07 PM)
Seriously aircon is okay ar? If you switch off the aircon then water ma condense inside the cam? accelerates fungus growth and rust no?
*
that is if u immediately move ur cam frm cold room to warm environment
if slowly let ur cam warm up, no condensation

Waa.... drop?? den gone dy.... the front element so big, looks fragile to me, That's really somethin nice to hear about, peeling problem fixed!! I got a quote around 1.8 for Sigma, and 1.7 for Nikkor, gotta test out those 2 this week. Too many doubts in those comments n reviews on9
*
lol, u wont want ur Nikon 50 to drop oso if u got 1, rite?
wat i can confirm is Sigma AF is abit faster, n less vignette
Nikkor produce warmer pics, Sigma is more neutral
got 1 comment i heard from many ppl oso, Nikkor 50 1.4G is very racist, keep hunting when trying to focus on dark skin ppl, LOL!

Any idea hw to take more clear photo?no VR when i shot at indoor gt dark picture & nt clear at all
*
1st, is 'clearer', not more clear
2nd, more likely ur pics r blurred due to hand movement at low shutter speed, not not clear
3rd, if thats d limitation of ur handheld, then pump iso to use higher shutter speed, last resort, use tripod
4th, ur cam is 2nd hand or new? im blur blur here abit

My camera is 2nd hand...u felt any problem v it?
*
no, no problm, jz want comment on ur previous posts
if u buy 2nd hand, maybe previous owner bought D5000 then only 18-55 without VR, or any other way
so u cant blame him selling u 18-55 without VR, rite? unless he told u its D5000 kitlens or he's selling 18-55 VR
jz my 2 cents icon_rolleyes.gif

Personally I think the fact that there is NO VR on your lens is no reason to change for a bigger lens with VR, some of us actually turn off VR for certain shots. I don't know why but meh..

The thing is, if your picture is blur, there is a few things you can do. The most basic one is

1. Move around? A lot of people just pacak there and take pix by zooming in and out. Have you tried changing position and angle?

2. Bump up the shutter speed, bump up the ISO, turn down the aperture.

3. Brace yourself against the wall, the table or anything. Take a deep breath, then snap the photo.

4. Stop looking at your lens coz it fails you by not having VR, look at the lens and ask yourself. How can I fully utilize you.

Bigger lens doesn't mean its better. I walk around with only 50mm, i lament the lost of the wide angle, but still, I make do with it lah.

Learn to utilize all the semi-auto function first, then you will realise. The lens you are looking for might be different from what you thought you want.
*
like the 1st point, d very reason y i prefer primes to zooms, 1 less thg to worry
jz worry bout aperture n shutter speed then d rest is leg work biggrin.gif

QUOTE(celciuz @ Aug 18 2010, 02:01 PM)
If work on IR signal, I don't think will be reliable. Better go with cable.
*
biggest problm with IR is nid to change release mode to IR remote release, which makes d main shutter release button useless in this mode sweat.gif

QUOTE(ayrton @ Aug 18 2010, 02:26 PM)
I see... Then will I be able to focus halfway and using burst mode?
*
yes, evrythg works jz like d normal shutter button

Nikon 24mm f/1.4G AF-S Nikkor ED Wide Angle Lens  RM6,750.00
Nikon 24mm f/2.8D AF Nikkor Lens                          RM1,450.00

Nikon 28mm f/2.8D AF Wide Angle Nikkor Lens    RM950.00
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Wide Angle Auto Focus Nikkor Lens    \  RM850.0
Nikon 35mm f/2D AF Wide Angle Auto Focus Nikkor Lens    RM1,195.0
Nikon 50mm f/1.4D Normal AF Nikkor Autofocus Lens    RM1,055.00
Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S Auto Focus Nikkor Lens    RM1,860.00
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Autofocus Lens
Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Autofocus Lens    RM420.00
*
most ppl compare 50mm price

now jz launch new AFS 85mm but price twice of 85mm f/1.4D sweat.gif
