frankly quite disappointed with the 4.2.1 upgrade, nothing special, multitasking is nothing new, still took me ages to backup (it took more than 3 hours to backup the ipad and there isn't much data in it to begin with - they should fix that backup problem)

there is no proper way to exit an app other than to hit the home button....then it lies in the background using up precious memory and battery i suppose....and u have to close it manually.

and now the side lock become the mute button..... doh.gif

when i was trying to lock the screen today, hitting the home button twice, sliding right, pressing the slide lock button, my fren commented that the programmer at apple must be some arcade player - it's like some combo move.... laugh.gif

on the bright side, i stimulated the china economy laugh.gif

anybody can name apps that are known to be problematic causing slow backups?

i heard that might be the main cause.

Try finding this program called iPhone Backup Switch. Basically what is does is before you open your iTunes, you can choose whether you enable or disable your iTunes backup. Works well for me.

no, what i want is to backup with less time consumed. in itunes you can cancel backup just by clicking the x button.

imma trying to figure out why its taking so long (approx 3 hrs) for backup when there's not much data in the ipad.....some corrupt apps perhaps?

It's the photos and videos that take a long time.  You need to save them in another folder like this:
1.Connect iPhone/iPad to the computer.
2.If Scanner and Camera Wizard does not open automatically, choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Scanner and Camera Wizard.
3.If a window appears asking you to select your device, choose your iPhone from the list and click OK.
4.When the Scanner and Camera Wizard launches, click Next.
5.Ensure that all of your photos are selected and click Next.
6.Enter a name for your group of photos and choose the location to which you'd like to import them.
7.Enable the option "Delete pictures from my device after copying them."
8.Click Next.
9.When the photos finish importing and deleting, click Next.
Click Finish.

first back shud be time consuming. subsequent back up wont take up so much time i assume.

just an update on my earlier problem on slow backups.

as i was kinda busy recently, i didn't try any of the suggestions from all of you, BUT i found out that apparently Apple had somehow fixed this bug in the 4.2.1 upgrade.

What i found during my 2nd backup (1st backup was prior to updating to 4.2.1) was that i now cannot skip the backup during sync by clicking the x button. (not sure if it's same as experienced by u guys)

And....the sweet part was that the entire backup only took no more longer than 5 minutes!

So my problem with backups are finally over ! tongue.gif
