hi walabies,

I guess maybe it would be more appropriate to put my queries here... smile.gif, and hope you can give me  some good recommendations.

I am looking for a good SQ headset, comfortable for long hour use, compact and fold-able is a plus point since I will be using it a lot for traveling, good sound isolation and good leakage handling, and I like clean clarity sound with some bass.

My source would be my Hi-Fi set at home, ipod when traveling, and notebook/ipod when in office.

My budget would be not more than RM1500.

many thanks.

For long hour use, either on flight or in the comfort of aircond environment, I'll go with ESW9.
The cushion is from softskin leather, so prolong use in non-aircond environment can become uncomfortable.

I'm alternating between ESW9 or Shure SE535 if I want to be more discreet or need better isolation.
My source is iPod with Pico headamp when travelling, and the Pico amp also serves as USB DAC when plugged into the MacBook.

The ESW9 has good bass, lush mid but slight rolled-off treble, good for those female vocal or jazz.
I'm thinking of recabling the ESW9 with silver cable to bring out the high.

Haha.. hmm..i tot u just sold the IE7 tats y u are saying that IE8 is better build quality. hahah.. kidding...
I heard that SE530 have some cable issue is it true??
...
I had the IE8 for a year before it was stolen and now using SE535.
I can say that the build quality of the SE535 is better than IE8.
SE535 comes with replaceable cable that overcomes the SE530 cable issue.

Not a good idea bro, garbage in, garbage out.  The better your headphone, the better your source needs to be. smile.gif

I know bro....
But have to contend with the iPod Classic 80Gb when on the moves.

At home I still have Bladelius Freja Mk II CD player, >RM15k CDP, but feeding Pop-Pulse T-amp and Travagan 3" speakers.... both cost less than 10% of the CD player.... blush.gif

Go for the best dude ..or at least mid-range. I kinda regret getting the AD700 and D1001 and not straight to D2000 or Beyer DT880..

Later on as my financial income advances, I'll look into a triple driver. Was going for the UM3x but then I thought, "Nah, still too early".

Later on, I'll go custom.  brows.gif

Go for custom straight if fund permitted...
If not, ikat perut for a while first...

I kinda regretted of buying SE535 after I lost my IE8 last year...
I auditioned JH16 first with stock cable followed with Crystal Piccolino cable and how I wished I should have go for custom
