Went to Jaben today and got Shure 535 instead of the original poison Westone UM3X or Ortofon EQ-7. The person serving me is very polite and helpful so I want to thank him personally for helping me out smile.gif (PS: Forgot to ask your name sorry QQ)

Got an extremely GOOD price for being a long time customer, thank you walabies and jaben!! As for the review I don't think I can give anything useful since i'm uber newb at judging anything LoL. But what my ears tells me that the SQ is between UM3X and EQ-7.

Clarity is a little bit below EQ-7 and bass is a little bit below UM3X so IMO Shure 535 is in between these earphones. Also "tried" to audition UE TF10 but FAIL to fit the damn thing since its HUGE, lol. Also tried Shure 530, ck10 and W3 which doesn't seem to get to me, hence I choose Shure 535.

Again, thank you to the person who helped me in deciding what to get as i'm a total newb (sorry I didn't ask your name ><") and walabies for giving me a very good price, will definitely shop more in the future.

That would probably be yuheng.  laugh.gif

Yuheng is not there when I went there and I'd "probably" recognize him since I've seen him before. I forgot to add I also tried IE8 and the bass is redonkulous for me since I prefer clarity than bass. Definitely great for bass heads but they're just not for me smile.gif

ok from this big 4, Shure 530/535, W3, UM3x, IE3 what is the best recommendation for overall sound quality? How bout the build quality? Which IEM have then best build quality....?

QUOTE(jkwanness @ Oct 13 2010, 09:22 PM)
correction, IE8.....

erm from those 4, i would say UM3x, cause that sounded most natural to me.. i have not heard SE530 though..

would you consider Ultimate Ears Triple.Fi 10 pro?
*
Kinda depends on what your looking for, i.e. Whats your preference? I think for the price range any of those will have superb build quality.

Since your looking for clarity then you'll definitely going to love Ortofon EQ-7 since (for me) it has the less colored and punchy SQ compared with SE530, SE535, W3 and UM3x. It lacks in the bass department severely and going to sound flat as hell but it makes up for it in detail (When compared with others, but its still has adequate bass).

Simply put just go to jaben and auditioned all of them to your hearts content, heck thats what I did and got myself SE535. Although I was going to go for EQ-7 but I prefer a little bit of bass, sacrificing clarity. I think if I have enough moolah I'd buy EQ-7 just to listen to vocals and instrumentals (I wish laugh.gif).

how about an amp? lol

I prefer to buy headphone or earphone since the sound difference per $ is a lot higher than say buying an amp. Furthermore I'm just your average music listener who just listens to music casually, not super hardcore audiophile or anything so IMO, headphone or earphone is definitely worth the money.

Some might say its a waste since the source is crap but I'm just a student so its not like I make decent pay to afford anything extra like an amp. But hey each to one's own right? smile.gif

I had the IE8 for a year before it was stolen and now using SE535.
I can say that the build quality of the SE535 is better than IE8.
SE535 comes with replaceable cable that overcomes the SE530 cable issue.
*
IMO build quality for all IEM (which is around IE8 and SE535) price range is about the same. The aesthetics however varies quite a lot. But then again, if your buying an earphone I don't think aesthetics will mean anything since your not going to be able to see it when you listen to it.

IMO what matters is how they sound to you, looks come second (or none for me as I'm not bothered with looks). I prefer to buy something that's engineered to sound good, rather than look good since that's whats it made for.

I do understand little bout that.
Different fields have different concerns.
Just suggesting why not just invest those car audio to a proper setup that's all.

Gas prices are getting a hike so not everyone can pay the gas, KIDDING!!

Well as a audio enthusiasts I think there's only 1 reason, to enjoy music not only in his own car, but in his own house or maybe on the go. Like hifi people going to headfi and vice versa.

If your really interested but don't know how to express what you like, then just trust your ears. Go to Jaben and auditioned anything you want, don't worry about looking like a soar thumb, lets face it, not everyone can write beautiful poems and whatnot so who cares. Just buy whatever things that suit your taste, not what someone else tells you to buy because THEY think its good.

Just like you buying a Japan sports car instead of a European sports car, its your choice and not others.

PS: I loveeeeeeeeee skyline gtr r34, dayum somemore got nice plate drool.gif

When buying headphone or earphone you can't expect to get a complete package e.g. Great clarity/detail and nice and full bass, its just not how it works.

Usually if you want clarity the bass is going to be MEH at best. The bass is there, its tight and "ok" but definitely not going to impress you. If your going for bass-oriented then say goodbye to clarity, since the bass is going to overwhelm it.

It doesn't matter if its RM100 or RM1000, its the same thing with headphone or earphone. Unless your talking about HD800 then I guess that's an exception.

Each got their own "specialty" or sound signature and trust me, there's no all-around-champion. So the idea of owning a couple of headphones/earphones is quite logical albeit expensive smile.gif

In the end, you listen yourself and compromise on which one you want and buy it based on your budget.

My budget is rm 120, however will try to increase my budget by more saving >.< May i know which balanced IEM is the value for money smile.gif

I think your budget is quite low and your definitely going to regret skimping money. Thing is you don't buy this things everyday or every month for that matter so why not save up and buy the bestest one you can afford (over a half a year save) instead of what you can afford now.

I'm not trying to make you spend more money then your already intended but think about it, your going to be using these for at least 1-2 years (or more?) so why not save and buy the best you can get. They don't require monthly or yearly maintenance if your using silicon tips, which is very easy to clean (unless if your using foam eartips, then thats a different story).

Not to mention these things do last if you take good care of them and if your bored with it, sell it off and get some of that cash back. How much should you save? Well depends on you and your needs. If you just want to try it out then go small so if you don't like it, no big deal.

Do check out this review by ClieOS, just skim over them to get an idea of which presents the best value for money:

Multiple IEM Shootout v.3

They are very long an comprehensive and are definitely worth your time checking them out smile.gif

I see. I try to get there and see. I guess have to ask my mom to donate a little to me >.<
*
I also ask for my mom some money, lol smile.gif Just don't fixated on 1 thing only, be open minded. When I went to buy my earphone, I target 1 thing after I done my research but when I auditioned it at Jaben, I didn't quite like it and went and bought something else which I didn't even research. Sounds stupid but I trust what I heard and go with it since the sound appeal more to me, even if I don't know what the hell I'm listening to, haha.

Just make sure to shop according to your budget, don't want to like something thats way out of your league now smile.gif

i think foobar is only a player...
correct me if i m wrong...

Yeah you can convert files in foobar using encoders such as lame. I think you guys should discuss this in a separate thread, don't spam jaben thread with things not related to jaben smile.gif

Come on jaben, give me some nice December surprise laugh.gif

This might sound like a silly question but I'm really bummed at what to google so here goes, Where can I purchase the soft material that jaben put at their desk/counter (the place where people can auditioned stuff).

Reason is I like to take off my iem and put in on the desk. The problem is the desk is wood and I'm kinda afraid I might slam the iem themselves. Of course I do put it slowly but sh*t happens so I just wanna be safe than sorry.

Long story short, what is the plastic (soft material, donnu what is it) called and where can I purchase them?
