this is true, but only until certain extent. the way i see it, the supplies are controlled by a certain group of people. it's not like during ramadhan suddenly supply shrunk, or demand increase exponentially. as a matter of fact, demand should be reduced since people are eating less... so price should go down... it's well known that cainis always look after their own, hence the reduced price during CNY. as for puasa & raya? well, all excuse will be thrown about for the price increase. after all, people will still buy, right right? business maa... ada can get more untung, of course people will do it

i'm not gonna retract from anything. if you guys go to the pasar/hypermart often enough to notice the change in price then you'll see as I see. I got a relative supplying ayam also. that's how I know it la. ayam the main supplier is the cainis. they control the anak ayam supply, the food, and the borong for the adult one. haish people should only talk if they know about them, if not make yourself look rather foolish

oh and one more thing, people will become more defensive when they know its true...

go to the pasar/hypermarket, and tell me if there's no chicken to be bought? LOADS of them

those who live with their parents or eating out, not cooking / buying raw materials for themselves will not be aware of this. this is malaysia la. as i said before, if there's an opportunity to make more money, people will take it.

supply and demand only works properly in an ideal world. but it never is. econ 101

nope, chicken seller plenty of meleis, but rarer/supplier = majority cainis.

and pleaselah, why so fast to tag people with racist tag? i've been saying as it is since my first post in this thread. some of you are implying wrongly. i didnt imply anything. I say it as it is. it's not my fault if my knowledge extends to those things beyond your comprehension/experience

see you imply that i said cainis is taking advantage on maleis.....

what i simply mention there is during raya & puasa the supplier (which are cainis in majority) will jack up the price. so basically you want me to omit the word cainis there and simply say

supplier will jack up price for raya & puasa?

no point sugarcoating things that are well known bro

have you actually been to the pasar/hypermart on weeks heading to CNY? what is written on paper is one thing, the other is to experience it yourself. on second thought, have you actually ever buy raw chicken yourself?

cant really get a price list of any kind, but here's a snippet from a blog, who did encounter the same price cut as me. and yes, 2.99 was the lowest price i've seen it go.

Oh well, I've said what need to be said from a consumer point of view. Anyhow, thanks for all the links soothsayer, and for being civil throughout too. I guess by these evidents, my accusation of a lower price for CNY do seem unjustified. All I can say is, just wait for the next CNY and keep an eye on the chicken sold @ hypermarts, just for the lulz....
