I am not sure which one to look at, is it this? in the faq:

How to flash new firmware:
You’ll need the following to flash the phone:
- ODIN 3 version 1.0 (flash program)
- .PIT file (the boot file of the phone)
- USB cable
.... etc etc?

So i have to download the original rom and flash it?

QUOTE
The many users of the Samsung Galaxy highly anticipated update to Android 2.2 is released in mid-September. The new firmware is currently undergoing an internal test phase, a Samsung representative of Germany said in an interview with AreaMobile. If the new firmware is released, then they can not be installed directly on the Galaxy S (OTA), but to go the detour via the PC software gravel.

Android 2.2 includes several enhancements and new features. Shall carry the new system, additional applications from the Android Market out much faster. They may also finally be installed on a memory card or extra internal memory. Also new is a modem function, which makes the mobile phone into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. i don't get it. why some people (SGS user from Malaysia or Singapore) would want to flash their firmware with European firmware (JM6 is the latest Euro firmware i think). mind telling me the benefit of flashing to European f/w, anyone?

just for fun? i don't think so, mate. some people said that most of SGS problems were fixed or WILL be fixed by european f/w.
this suggests that Samsung UK are always listening to customers feedback and REALLY commited to fix any problems, to name a few: GPS slow fix (i got this problem),  inadequate sound quality when using headphone (check XDA forum, a thread started by supercurio) and the famous "Lag problem"
then again, this is only a rumor (started by me, i might add)
*
since u already have your answer then why still ask? sweat.gif

ACTUALLY, it depends which firmware suits u well.some users say lag free on europe firmware but some users not...many user flash to asian/hk firmware because they believe the firmware fixed most of their problems..
i just stick with europe firmware coz mine is UK set
