12. And when the Blessed One had passed away, simultaneously with his Parinibbana there came a tremendous earthquake, dreadful and astounding, and the thunders rolled across the heavens.
13. And when the Blessed One had passed away, simultaneously with his Parinibbana, Brahma Sahampati spoke this stanza: All must depart — all beings that have life Must shed their compound forms. Yea, even one, A Master such as he, a peerless being, Powerful in wisdom, the Enlightened One, has passed away. 14. And when the Blessed One had passed away, simultaneously with his Parinibbana, Sakka, king of the gods, spoke this stanza: Transient are all compounded things, Subject to arise and vanish; Having come into existence they pass away; Good is the peace when they forever cease. 15. And when the Blessed One had passed away, simultaneously with his Parinibbana, the Venerable Anuruddha spoke this stanza: No movement of the breath, but with steadfast heart, Free from desires and tranquil — so the sage Comes to his end. By mortal pangs unshaken, His mind, like a flame extinguished, finds release. 16. And when the Blessed One had passed away, simultaneously with his Parinibbana, the Venerable Ananda spoke this stanza: Then there was terror, and the hair stood up, when he, The All-accomplished One, the Buddha, passed away. Maha-parinibbana Sutta |

Foreigners have been flocking to meditation centers in Yangoon to learn ancient buddhist meditation. May all beings benefit from the Sasana of our Buddha. Syadu x 3

In fivefold concentration rapt,
The mind in peace and unified, Inner tranquillity I gained And thus was purified my eye divine. In fivefold jhana standing firm, I knew the passing and rebirth of beings, Their coming and their going I perceived, Their life in this world and beyond. Ven Anuruddha, Master of Divine Eye |

QUOTE(nightzstar @ Aug 25 2012, 10:14 PM) To a westerner point of view (non practitioner ) , it looks like a teaching and philosophy. But if you go deeper into the teaching, it's more than that. Even the 8 fold path itself is just not a teaching. It's a kind of things that one needs to practice to understand. |

QUOTE(wildrestark @ Sep 9 2013, 03:57 PM) hi joe, Some meditation organizers charge minimal fees to cover lodging and meals, perhaps RM10 a day. Other than that it is up to the participants to make voluntary donation.Too many of them in Hotfrog, don't know which one is the mindfullness or Zen meditation, some are flukes, which one is not monetary driven? i don't believe in paying for courses. Meditation is suppose to be conducted by teachers and in a group. those seeking fees for courses really too much, that means they don't believe in buddhist zen.. nothing. |

QUOTE(wildrestark @ Sep 9 2013, 03:57 PM) hi joe, Well, look for those Buddhist ones. Try giving a call and enquire. Too many of them in Hotfrog, don't know which one is the mindfullness or Zen meditation, some are flukes, which one is not monetary driven? i don't believe in paying for courses. Meditation is suppose to be conducted by teachers and in a group. those seeking fees for courses really too much, that means they don't believe in buddhist zen.. nothing. Others might be collecting fees but maybe just a token sum to cover expenses. |

QUOTE(wildrestark @ Sep 9 2013, 08:18 PM) Ok thanks, what is bodi ? It also similar to buddhism? The fees are okay to me.. Like u said covering some cost. Bodhi is part of Buddhism - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BodhiHere, this might also be more up your alley. http://www.ddm.org.my/16-0-English/Home.html http://www.ddm.org.my/16-0-English/2013_ac...eginner_e_p.png Give them a call and see if it is. |
