Cergaz gave me 2% discount for my Golf. Just received my car today.Has anyone tried the Stage 1 ECU reflash yet? Will it void the 5-year warranty?

QUOTE(zackloy @ Dec 10 2010, 02:49 PM) Really....I'll check with Cergaz then... Haha he is so right....Stage 1 ECU mod will void your warranty if VW find out....apparently if you do an APR ECU mod which has the option to switch back to stock whenever you want, VW most likely can't detect it with a normal check during servicing....anyway it's up to you...a forumner here said it best - "If afraid don't mod, if mod don't be afraid" Anyway the SC i went to , his name is Sam Masonn. Its either Ipad + 1% , Free 1 or 2 service + 1% or 2% |

QUOTE(zackloy @ Dec 10 2010, 03:41 PM) Thanks for the info, went to Wearnes Bangsar, they give 1% + iPad + 1 free service if buy the car now and register by 1st week of Jan 2011. Problem is am waiting for my funds to come in before I get the car (dun want to touch savings), and now a friend who has some insider info on VW told me to hold till Jan 2011 - seems that there is going to be a major announcement by VW on the CKD models in Dec which involves our PM too...so I got the black. You may like to know... http://paultan.org/2010/09/21/volkswagen-g...ntly-sold-here/ There has been much excitement, and speculation, since the announcement that Volkswagen has signed an MoU with DRB-Hicom to locally assemble cars at the latter’s Pekan plant. Everyone has their guesses (some incredibly sure) on the identity of the three models, but thanks to a statement from Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM), we now know that the list WILL NOT include models currently sold in Malaysia. Here’s the verbatim press statement: Following the announcement in August on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DRB-HICOM Berhad to collaborate on local assembly, Volkswagen would like to reiterate the content of the MoU that both parties are still in the early stage of investigating local vehicle assembly. The joint plans envisage the production of Volkswagen models in Malaysia from 2012 onwards. The matter is still under negotiations and as a policy, Volkswagen will not comment on ongoing discussions. Suffice it to say, the models / variants in negotiations to be locally assembled will not be the models which are currently offered in Malaysia. VGM’s current range consists of the five-door Polo 1.2 TSI, New Beetle, Golf 1.4 TSI, Scirocco (160 PS/210 PS), Golf GTI, Passat CC, Eos, Tiguan and Touareg V6 SUV. ..... however dun blame me if they changed their minds. QUOTE(jwrx @ Dec 21 2010, 08:17 PM) yes, my GTI was S2 APR, 265bhp, 300+Nm Hi will like to remap as well. But my Golf TSi still has 4years 11 months warranty, LOL. I heard the APR remap can be changed back to stock via the cruise control. Is this true and it cannot be detected by the SC?Its not the most powerful map in the market, but i trust them as they are the only tuner in Msia which hasnt changed hands in the last 5-8 years. Karl, the principle of APR has been doing VW/Audi Tuning for many many years, he himself owned a MK5 GTI and now a MK6 GTI. He knows VAG cars inside out |

If afraid, dun Mod Bro, thanks for the info man... ok...i copy & paste some stuff i wrote for the roc owners forum If you are going to mod...forget about your warranty. Any remap or suspension mod will void your GB/drivetrain/engine warranty, if a shop tells you "ours wont void" they are BSing you. So dont be a wuss, if u mod, stop worrying about your warranty, its kaput ok? |

QUOTE(bluescreamer @ Dec 22 2010, 11:19 PM) I've heard from a few ppl that it's strongly encouraged to change the tsi's brakes once you've remapped it. How much would a good one cost and is it OK to take the Gti's ones instead? Another question. I read that the seven-speed DSG is used in smaller front-wheel drive cars with smaller displacement engines with lower torque outputs, such as the latest Volkswagen Golf, due to it having a maximum torque handling capacity of 250 N·m (180 lb·ft). Has anyone experience any detrimental effect after remapping? This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Dec 23 2010, 09:42 AM |

QUOTE(bbchua @ Jan 22 2011, 02:14 PM) thanks for the info. I did not know that as well. You can change the settings from the MFD.this is my first continental car . I have a quick question in regard of the auto lock. i found out if any of the door is open from the car, the other 3 doors will be unlocked too. anyone know how to de-active this? i remember the first few weeks i got the car , if one of the passenger door is open from inside, other door will remain unlock n i found it is safer in that way. thx Added on January 26, 2011, 5:12 pm QUOTE(Mavik @ Jan 26 2011, 03:58 PM) Best interest rate now is if you take the 2010 car its at 1.38%. I think the L&S package is worth it just for the lights. The media player is crap though. Also in 2011, VGM will not bring in the Golf TSI without the L&S package. Friend who booked it last month is furious about it because the SC is now "forcing" him to top up to get the L&S package This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Jan 26 2011, 05:12 PM |

QUOTE(eugene jk @ Jan 30 2011, 08:18 AM) 1) Golf twincharge vs 308 turbocharge.. slight turbo lag in Pug. Tested drive both the Golf Tsi and 308 Turbo (6-speed) on the same day. The 308 no fight la in terms of performance and handling. Somehow the Golf feels much more solid and faster than the 308. 2) 7 speed DSG vs Aisin (Japan made) 6 speed.. Golf 7 speed giv better fuel efficiency and dual clutch for smoother gear switching. 3) CBU from Wolfburg Germany vs CKD from Gurun.. Bolehland has poor assemble quality, and its from NAZA.. 4) VW 5 year warranty unlimited miles vs Pug 3 years or 100k. 5) Longer service interval (VW 15k vs Pug 10k). 6) Golf better fuel efficiency than 308. 7) More desirable VW badge than Pug badge. 8) VW holds its value pretty well among conti cars. Also heard there are a lot of complaints on the 308. This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Jan 31 2011, 11:57 AM |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Feb 7 2011, 04:22 PM) Problem about installing Dynaudio here is that the warranty will be voided. That means anything that is electronically powered in the car will have it's warranty voided. Suggest you call your SA to find out. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Feb 9 2011, 02:52 PM) Read the above mentioned post by climacool where his HU caused his battery to be spoiled. He can't get the warranty claim back for his battery. SA will say one thing but SC will say a different thing as well. Well, this morning I sent my car to Wearnes VW and I told him my issue...He call the Service advisor at VW Jalan ipoht. After that, I asked him that am I eligible to claim a new battery because the radio causing the battery leaking off the energy. He replied that I'm not be able to claim a new battery because the battery warranty is over and subject based on individual driving condition. I was like...WTH ? I told him...Is not about individual driving condition, is because of the radio issue...He never reply anything to me.From the VW 5-Year Warranty Terms and Condition 9. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Speedometer and sensors, odometer, tachometer, temperature gauges, horn, wiper motor and associated sensor, windshield washer reservoir, fluid level sensor, headlight washer pump and associated components, head light switch, brake light switch, turn signal switch, emergency flasher switch, door switches, back-up light switch, fog light switch, alarm system components, wiring harnesses and connectors (non-modified by after market installation), cruise control components, Starter motor unit including solenoid, Alternator unit, Voltage regulator, Coil unit, ignition locks and electrical components, knock sensors, infrared entry receiver (not for battery replacement), power door actuators and associated switches, sun roof motor, sun roof switches and relay, convertible top hydraulic motor and associated wiring, window regulator assemblies and motor, power window switches and associated wiring, side view mirror motors and associated wiring, sunshade motor, air bag sensors and warning lights and associated components, air bags, seat motors and heating elements and their relays, and multi media interface (MMI) components not related to navigation and sound system, ignition switch, air bag sensors, airbags, seat motors, heating elements, headlamp control units & horn. Excluding: - Batteries, Light bulbs, Wiper blades/ rubbers, Distributor cap & Relays Normally the Batteries being a consumable part is not cover by warranty. Please note the VW 5-year Warranty T&C above. However in Climacool case if the first SC at Jalan Ipoh is correct and that the radio drained his battery then its a car defect. if its proven car defect then the battery should be replaced. |

Couple of weeks ago I installed a Dension Gateway 5 Bluetooth unit to the RCD 310. Some of the functions could not be used so I took my car to the SC for a diagnostic check. There was a major fault on the CAN bus. The SC told me to remove the bluetooth unit and cleared the fault for me. Did not say anything about voiding the warranty.
Anyway the HU is plug and play if the SC make any noises I can just replace it before servicing. Maybe thinking of getting a VAG-COM This post has been edited by tiganasfx: Feb 9 2011, 03:55 PM |

QUOTE(gladfly @ Feb 9 2011, 05:16 PM) Dear Sir, Dear sir you are too fast. I deleted my post before your reply.... Anyway I think you are correct and I am wrong unless of course Climacool changed the radio which causes the battery to drain. I think we are not on the same page. I know what you meant by warranty yada yada..same T&Cs for 2 years and the 3 years extended coverage. IMHO...warranty is warranty. Black and white of obligations, liabilities and so on. To me there is what called implied warranty. Implied as in not written but accepted. It is an accepted fact that a normal batt last at least 1 year (its bosch for god sake!!). So, Climacool's lasted 8 months. IMHO VW should have just replaced it rather than trying to find a loop hole to avoid replacing. Yes it is that simple. No point arguing till the cows come home on warranty..yada yada. Its called merchantable quality...a legitimate expectation by the customer to believe that the product is able to perform its intended use within its normal shelf life. So, my guess since you didnt answer my hypothectical question like xenon lights buring after 1 month or wipers failing after 3 months, I take it that you will just replace it yourself. Well that is your perogative, but I believe many VW customers here feel otherwise. Thanks |
