QUOTE(Mavik @ Aug 17 2010, 03:58 PM) Anyone placed a booking for any of the new Golf 1.4 which are coming in? I went to the VW Cergas branch at TTDI and the salesman said that they are bringing in 17 units in September and he says a lot of people booked it. I wonder if he is lying to me or not on that haha He's lying... there will be 70 units coming in the 1st batch... and you can take your pick in terms of kaler! I know coz I plonked down $$ for the car mah...

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Aug 18 2010, 02:16 AM) u booked the 1.4? mind telling us the loan and monthly payment details? thanks in advance yeah, 1.4ltr. errr... for loan and mthly payment details it depends on how much you are putting down for down payment. but assuming you need 90% financing it ranges from 1,7xx to 2,7xx depending on your loan tenor lor. HP interest rate also vary between banks from a range of 3.2 - 4%. This post has been edited by kikikukiki: Aug 18 2010, 02:22 PM

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 14 2010, 09:30 AM) yo . sure thing dude... how u plan on doin ur replacement ? buy a new set of rims n change first ? or trade in ur 16" for the 18" ? em... if i get the rims in MY, will leave the set with the tire shop if anybody is interested. IMOLA is the local distributor for MTM and Caractere btw. but if i get it in SG, then i'll just trade-in the rims.

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 14 2010, 09:57 AM) wow, very stylish .. do u know how much it costs ? btw.. goin 18" wun cause the car to b lesser power meh ? i dare not go 18 since the GTI also 18... and GTI is 200hp... so thot of just upgrading to 17".. afraid will makan too much of the 160hp and increase FC there's plenty of torque in the 1.4 and if that is not enough there's always apr, mtm s1 etc but of course you'd be sacrificing some driving comfort for the bling factor! FC is dependent on how heavy is your right foot in SG the 18" MTMs are SGD2900 and the 18" Caractere are SGD3000... if I can get it cheaper here in MY I'll get it changed locally but everything in MY is usually more $$$$$

QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 15 2010, 12:23 AM) Wow those rims look awesome and extremely stylish! Arrggh decisions decisions. Heard that FA Wagen offers a package where you can get the 17" GTI rims as well. Gonna check with Wearnes if they offer that as well. 17" is a good compromise between $$$/comfort if they offer that with stock but unfortunately they don't do that with the 1.4, so it's going to be a private deal unless you want to pay $$$$$ for the new OEM 17" detriots from vw, i'm sure there are some gti owners who are looking at selling their denvers/detriots if you look around

QUOTE(nomar @ Sep 22 2010, 04:20 PM) Collected my Golf just now ! first trip back home already already going through heavy rain. Quite scared of other car might rear ended it. One initial early finding, roof sound insulation not as good as I thought it would be, can hear rain quite clearly though not as bad as Honda. Sorry for crappy picture. pre delivery chk by S.A congratz bro... mine's still stuck in kastam ETD mid-Oct

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 28 2010, 01:13 AM) yah read abt how the computer will try to adapt to your driving style and do calculation lah ini itu .. seems to be like an adaptive gearbox that learns your driving style .. anyways i dun c any prob with slow pickup.. i kinda feel it's too difficult to drive in a jam.. coz touch the gas pedal a bit only the whole car feels like wanna jump n whack the car in front's backside... a bit jerky when u r caught in a jam coz too much power . but once on open road.. it's cruises with speed and elegant yup... agree 100%. the TD car i had was very eager to lunge ahead at the slightest prod of the accelerator and the brakes were very very responsive, it takes a while to get used to. if you do all your TDs back-to-back betweeen cars in the same category there is really no comparison... the golf literally whacks each one of them in every single area. my only gripe is... what? no electric seats for the driver???

QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 30 2010, 07:22 AM) at first that was a problem for me too, no electric seats but then i spoke to my client who drives a 5-series and he says that electric seats are overrated. Pros - cool and you get to store all your seat settings - better adjustment capabilities Cons - when it breaks down it is costly to repair - if you get into an accident and the car battery is cut off, you can't move the seat. A case where firemen had to use tools to free my client after he got into a major accident hmm... you've nailed it there Mavik!! but thankfully the VW comes with a 5-year warranty... and i want electric seats, but i guess retrofitting is out of the question from a $$$ point of view. would be nice if we have options to tick like our neighbours This post has been edited by kikikukiki: Sep 30 2010, 10:31 AM

QUOTE(Max1979 @ Oct 23 2010, 10:57 AM) Test drove the golf gti yesterday:) now I know why it's such an iconic and popular car. It was awesome - the 2.0 TSI engine is amazing - virtually no turbo lag. Loved the burble sound from the exhaust everytime I changed gears. Though I love the looks of the scirocco I think the gti has it in the bag. It's a shame the 2.0 scirocco is priced so much more ad this would have been my first choice. The 1.4 can't match the feeling i get when driving 2.0 i guess it's true when they say theres no replacement for displacement:) to put things into perspective... 2.0 gti stock vs 1.4 tsi + Stage 1 + RM50k in your bank account (or a trip around the world or college education for your kid)... hmmm...

QUOTE(aichiban @ Nov 25 2010, 04:02 PM) nobody soundproof their car? no need ler... the only noise i hear is from the tires... and that is something that can be fixed if you change em to those with less road noise. there's nothing wrong with the soundproofing of the mk6. rather i find it too quiet.... can fall asleep in the car anytime
