QUOTE(hosiery2u @ Aug 9 2010, 09:55 AM) Have been tested-drive the Golf before, the performance is fantastic, just the interior space is small. i tested the golf gti... the performance... my God... i tried to step the pedal for overtaking during the test drive and i was like holy fffffff... i didn't even step half of the pedal and the car was like accelerating like a jet! the 6 speed dsg changes from 2k rpm to 4k rpm in a sec!Added on August 9, 2010, 10:20 am QUOTE(Beach_Boy @ Aug 9 2010, 10:09 AM) for a 1.4litre and 156k, this is i think one of the cars in the market which you pay the least import tax if you compare it with a jap... 3 times service at 5k km interval... european is just slightly more expensive only right?anyways, for those who are contemplating mind you, service costs is not that cheap i have a vw on it's second year service now(service interval is 15k km) 30k km, the bill came close to about a thousand This post has been edited by kenji1903: Aug 9 2010, 10:20 AM |

QUOTE(phas3r @ Aug 9 2010, 11:55 PM) yes it goes, is that mk5 or mk6 you testing? this 1.4TSI should have respectable performance too i tested mk6, my uncle as an mk5 but 1.6fsi... sluggish...i heard from the reviews that the polo offers luxury car refinement and good quality. we'll check that car later. still waiting for poloGTI though welll 175Nm torque at 1.5k rpm is very good indeed polo gti should be using the 1.4 twincharge engine (from the RM157k golf) if not mistaken... |

QUOTE(phas3r @ Aug 10 2010, 03:38 PM) lol. indeed the 1.6L from golf is just too slow for anything. needs smaller engine with the aided of turbo like this 1.4TSI. i was too busy enjoying the 280Nm torque, didn't play with the buttons the polo gti is 1.4 with twincharged, but produce more output (180PS 249Nm) compared to the golf 1.4 TSI (160PS 240Nm) on a small car summore how do you think of the sport and comfort button on mk6? that guy taught me how to use the paddle shifts but i think it's unnecessary because no way the paddle shift can match the DSG's response... |

QUOTE(phas3r @ Aug 10 2010, 05:08 PM) erm, the paddle shifter is still controlled by the same transmission DSG, i don't really get you mean here hahaha, sorry, i meant my fingers it is useful if say i'm cruising on 6th gear, but want some overtaking power, i just press the downshift button and it goes to 5th gear immedietly. up to you if you want the DSG to do all the work, but there are times when i need to control the gear manually. the DSG is super responsive that's why i am wondering why the need for paddle shifts... i was cruising at 6 when i wanted to overtake, i just tapped the accelerator and the gear shifted to 3rd immediately! instantaneous power... geng |

QUOTE(ben83 @ Aug 10 2010, 09:38 PM) Wondered when the GTI & Scirocco will get the 7 speed DSG. Now it seems this latest (dry type) 7 speed DSG is limited to torque up to 250nm torque difference is because the latest engine is 1.4 twincharged... the gti and 2.0 scirocco have more torque because they are 2.0 turbocharged, nothing to do with the DSG right? |

QUOTE(Beach_Boy @ Aug 11 2010, 01:49 PM) take in consideration of depreciation, parts availability, service costs as well i don't care about depreciation cos i'm not changing my car if i go european... also... it's a VW... what to change to? good thing about a vios is, most workshops out there can and know how to fix one i cant say the same about VWs service wise is 15000km... should be pretty much similar to Vios 3 x 5000km... spare parts might be a problem... just don't bang or anything like that... engine and other internal parts should last longer than japs... by right it should unless i got a defect car service center wise... my uncle has a VW too, maybe i can consider taking a drive down to Singapore every half a year, do some visiting, makan and at the same time service |

QUOTE(supercharger @ Aug 11 2010, 03:13 PM) between pug 308 and the new polo, I'd say better do the test drive first. If possible back to back on the same morning. Then only you decide. same same For me, no need test drive, I'll always choose VW, anytime but if the polo was not launched here... maybe the 308... since it's launched, no 2nd thoughts, Polo! Added on August 11, 2010, 3:20 pm QUOTE(Beach_Boy @ Aug 11 2010, 03:19 PM) yes, it's on display in the Wearne's service center in sungai besi yeah, i got a call from the PJ SA 1 day before paul released the prices anyhow, the new Golf's accepting booking now, plenty of candy whites available This post has been edited by kenji1903: Aug 11 2010, 03:20 PM |

QUOTE(mavericksam @ Aug 11 2010, 06:15 PM) if you aren't into moonroof but more to dsg and fc and stuffs like that, think you might be better off with a polo... yes it is smaller but 308 isn't that big either... well, a RM110k with 9 years loan at 3.5% is just RM1.2k per month... with the 1/3 bank rule, definitely someone with no commitments and RM3.2k salary can afford it 308 as a different kind of appeal larr... think the interior wise, 308 is still better than polo... i don't have the option like you had but for me, i am not a speeder (occasionally sure got wan larr) so interior quality has more appeal to me... so it is what rocks your boat bro... but for a vw, don't think you can go wrong larr... anyway dsg also has its fair share of problems... also 3.2k salary, probably better go for lesser priced car... not sure if you could get full 90% loan... good luck bro... Added on August 12, 2010, 9:26 am QUOTE(StarGhazzer @ Aug 11 2010, 06:44 PM) The 308 is significantly larger than the Polo. checkout the dimensions... Polo and Jazz is just a few cm from each other... this is where the headache comes in... price is the same, Polo has full leather, 1.2 turbocharged engine, fuel economy and full leather... what does the Jazz give you? The Polo is a typical B-segment but unlike the spacious Jazz it's pretty tiny inside. Think something along the lines of Mazda 2 and you're not far off. As for money... For a gross RM3200 salary, it's advisable not to go for a 140K car. You'll spend the next decade paying through the roof. This post has been edited by kenji1903: Aug 12 2010, 09:26 AM |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Aug 12 2010, 10:59 AM) Ah can't wait to test drive the Golf 1.4TSI as well. Very tempted to place a booking now but would want to qualm my fears about the car and have a test drive on it. interested in VW since mk5 but not willing to spend more than 100k for a car... that's why the Polo is soooooo tempting... its 110k, fffff Anyone else is interested in the car? |

QUOTE(chuakz @ Aug 12 2010, 01:12 PM) even the latest top gear mag's hot hatch tests section said that it didnt really live up to expectations...it does look really good though...but i'd rather get a mito if its in the 150k price range....if 130k...then its damn worth it.... http://www.autoitalia.com.my/mito_spec.asphttp://paultan.org/2010/08/09/volkswagen-g...60-ps-rm155888/ golf 1.4 twincharge pawns mito in terms of engine... mito is priced almost 2k cheaper than golf... |
