QUOTE(kevin23 @ Aug 14 2010, 04:46 PM) Vw make good cars. But the maintainence is really high lah. You may hv no probs paying monthly installments but once service or chg spare part , they cost a bomb. Thts y ppl still opt for jap makes. Relatively cheaper. But no doubt polo is very tempting.. But servicing cost a bomb.. once CKD is up and running and VW bcomes a mass product, parts and maintainence will be cheaper... so everyone start buying VW |

how ironic.. the Germans perceive Golf like how we perceive Wira, they perceive Polo like how we perceive Kancil.. but once Golf and Polo landed in msia... wah "Dream Car"

Si-rokok ready for booking... The new Volkswagen Scirocco 160PS TSI with DGS. From188,888*. A bad habit is coming your way. So, it’s no surprise that you might get carried away by its powerful torque (240Nm), revel in a twincharged TSI engine and be impressed with modest fuel consumption (6.3l/100km) thanks to the intelligent direct shift gearbox DSG. QUOTE(hanifw @ Aug 24 2010, 09:47 AM) i wonder if VW Polo 1.2 is underpowered/enough power? Polo 1.2L 105PS still not enough?? thanks to its turbocharge that boost the power on par with 1.5L and 1.6L cars..Is it suitable for long distance travelling (e.g. KL to Kelantan)? The bigger picture is 175Nm starting @1500rpm which is a killer... not many cars have such performance.. Sometimes is not about the Power but Torque is also important for pickup and fuel economy... |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 12 2010, 02:49 AM) The Polo feels about the size of the Myvi. If you sit in the older Polo, this one is slightly bigger didnt hav a chance to look visit Msia showroom.. I just dropped by one of the show unit in Taiwan.. yup.. Polo's back seat is pretty cramp.. smaller than Myvi i think... As for Golf, pretty ample back seat space even for a 6 foot tall person... white one looks stunning |

QUOTE(azxel @ Sep 17 2010, 03:23 PM) worth to get or not it really depends on your needs/views/opinion... I think PEU is turbocharge while Golf is Twin-Charge right...With a lot of features that rivals (and is much more than) the already feature packed Peugeot 308THP which is priced at RM130+k plus the new Golf TSI has - 7 air bags (safety wise, I think not many other brands at this price range can rival this) - 7 speed (100km/h+ @ 2k rpm kinda blew me away) - really really really smooth gear change - gorgeous headlamps that moves / follows your steering wheel Besides being almost silent (I thought I was driving some hybrid car), on 'D' the car won't really move much by itself (it will still move though but just a bit).. you just tap a bit and it moves. need to test drive first Added on September 18, 2010, 4:19 pm QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 18 2010, 12:30 PM) Saw the Golf 1.4 TSI on the roads already! Saw two of them in SS2, one red and one sapphire blue. I saw 1 white Golf 1.4 TSI in Bangsar... my heart was boiling bcos there is a "P" sticker on it.... QUOTE(sonyman @ Oct 10 2010, 11:30 PM) well i took the polo in 222 for a spin today... the red one. First impression. very nice looking car from outside. Driver side interior looks the same as golf. when looking at the aircond knob. Ai ya... manual leh.. put off liau... then no traction control. and very very basic. Fit and finish not as nice as golf from germany. But very much better than Japanese cars. Space. very very cramp. feels like sitting in a kancil or myvi. Back sit. seriously not comfortable. Driver seat ok. So comfort i feel very very poor. Boot space., seriously small. very very small, not joking go see yourself. Agree with the comfy... its even more cramp than a Myvi... back seat not comfy at all.... Engine... small but seriously powerful. dont look at 1.2cc ah... it flies very very well. A bit of a lag under 2k rpm. but after that it just goes. DSG nothing to say lah same like golf. only without paddle shits. But in the end went to lancer next door. sat in the EX,,, the seat feels so much more comfortable than the polo. And size so much bigger.. now the question is. is it worth to pay for the engine and gear box while sacrificing all the comfort and space? Polo or VW seriously know how to make a very very good engine and gearbox. At 110k i think i have to review my choices. To axel. have you taken the polo for a spin. My backs not feeling very comfortable you know. just a mere 15 min drive around. Good thought sonyman, ultimately, is it worth paying that price for the turbo engine, gear box and the brand... |

QUOTE(phas3r @ Dec 29 2010, 07:20 PM) hi Miss(hope you are really a female Polo's 1200cc turbo equivalent to 2000cc is being overrated...i can clear you out on the 1.2cc thingy. the 1.2 engine for the polo is turbocharged(turbo for short). means if has the performance of a 2.0cc (2000cc actually) car but you only need to pay the road tax for 1.2cc and you get the fuel economy of a 1.2 cc. difference between Polo and Polo GTI on the other hand is more of performance, Polo GTI of course has a more powerful engine (the current Polo is powerful enough for you i believe), and probably has more features too as the current Polo is somewhat bare in specs. as for Golf 1.4 vs Polo 1.2, Golf is bigger, more spacious, more powerful and is higher specced, so it's up to your budget I would say horsepower wise, polo's 1.2 (105PS) is on par toyota vios 1.5 (109PS) Torque wise polo 1.2 equivalent to honda civic 1.8 (polo's torque is even better than civic because polo can reach max torque 175Nm @ 1550-4100rpm while civic max torque 174Nm only @ 4300rpm.. early torque translate to better pickup and some how translate to better fuel efficiency as well). *paiseh.. i m just a good broucher reader The 7 speed DSG is also another big highlight of VW vehicle.. the dual-cluth allow seamless gear change and you wont feel (or minimal) gear shift jerk in between gear change.. fast gear shifting reduce torque loss during gear change.. more gears allows your car to choose the more appropriate gear ratio at different speed and different driving situation.. overall better fuel efficiency because you have more gear ratio for different driving condition, lesser torque loss during gear change, and better acceleration bcos of seamless gear shift and lower torque loss.. So Miss, now you see the wonder of the polo, small but powerful, fast pickup, great fuel efficiency (award winning car), and the pride of owning a VW.. we havent even start talking about the good handling of the German car.. that will be another long story.. Golf gives even more p/s: wat else, paying "proton savvy road tax" for a high performance car.. This post has been edited by eugene jk: Dec 30 2010, 11:41 PM |

QUOTE(miczee @ Dec 31 2010, 12:19 AM) good research for a brochure reader. but for the vios bit.....on paper only. even the polo TSI out accelerates the manual vios ( on wheels it is about 115-120 PS with RON 97 and above). I am waiting for my 3rd vw next year hopefully they bring in the polo gti...6.9 secs....... Kenot fight interms of acceleration la.. its a combo of torque, power, gear and the whole power transmission down to the wheel... vios might have the same power, but torque and gear technology lose by a mile.. |

Added on January 4, 2011, 12:36 am QUOTE(gregy @ Jan 3 2011, 04:00 AM) I did some approximate calculations and here are the results of the power bands between the Polo 1.2 TSI and Civic 1.8S: Good calculation and analysis.. Polo strong point is high torque at low RPM and high power to weight ratio.. most jap cars on the road can eat Polo's dust 1,550rpm = Polo (38hp), Civic (31.57hp) 3,000rpm = Polo (73.7), Civic (68hp) 4,000rpm = Polo (98hp), Civic (95hp) 5,000rpm = Polo (105hp), Civic (119hp) 6,000rpm = Polo (102hp), Civic (139hp) Calculations were based on torque output at the given rpms (converted from Nm to pound foot) x rpm, then divided by 5252. So, this explains the "seat of the pants" feeling of driving a turbocharged Polo TSI at anything below 4,000rpm and in that sense I can concur that driving the Polo around town can be compared to a 2.0-litre NA car; however for acceleration and top speed you can see that the Civic is no slouch here. The main difference is not because of the turbocharging, but the fact that the Polo is just slightly over 1 tonne while the Civic is heavier at 1.24 tonnes. No need to mention about transmission loss, as the Civic's 5AT only robs approximately 20% of power to the wheels, which is very close to that of a manual tranny. If you look at this vid, you'll see that the lack of low end torque doesn't impede the Civic, as the gears are designed to upshift at around its max torque output for flat out driving: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkdUURkcZ9c&feature=related Nonetheless, that @$$-shoving low end torque of the Polo is more fun as a daily driver. If only the seats weren't so cramped lol... This post has been edited by eugene jk: Jan 4 2011, 12:36 AM |
