how ironic.. the Germans perceive Golf like how we perceive Wira, they perceive Polo like how we perceive Kancil.. but once Golf and Polo landed in msia... wah "Dream Car"

Polo 1.2L 105PS still not enough?? thanks to its turbocharge that boost the power on par with 1.5L and 1.6L cars..

The bigger picture is 175Nm starting @1500rpm which is a killer... not many cars have such performance..

Sometimes is not about the Power but Torque is also important for pickup and fuel economy...

didnt hav a chance to look visit Msia showroom.. I just dropped by one of the show unit in Taiwan.. yup.. Polo's back seat is pretty cramp.. smaller than Myvi i think...

As for Golf, pretty ample back seat space even for a 6 foot tall person... white one looks stunning brows.gif

finally, i m back to bolehland... went to the showunit near penchala... only manage to test drive the Golf 1.4 TSI along Penchala link and den U-turn..

got confused with the wiper and signal indicator, terbalik with japanese cars doh.gif

I used to just cruising with my own car, but the sales gal ask me just tekan aje with the Golf.. tongue.gif

impressive pickup even before 2000 rpm, reach 100km/h in no time... cabin is quiet... nice handling

I would prefer it comes with leather seats, more classy and luxury..

overall... very good car... thumbup.gif

To axel. have you taken the polo for a spin. My backs not feeling very comfortable you know. just a mere 15 min drive around.

Agree with the comfy... its even more cramp than a Myvi... back seat not comfy at all....

Good thought sonyman, ultimately, is it worth paying that price for the turbo engine, gear box and the brand... hmm.gif

Polo's 1200cc turbo equivalent to 2000cc is being overrated...
I would say horsepower wise, polo's 1.2 (105PS) is on par toyota vios 1.5 (109PS)
Torque wise polo 1.2 equivalent to honda civic 1.8 (polo's torque is even better than civic because polo can reach max torque 175Nm @ 1550-4100rpm while civic max torque 174Nm only @ 4300rpm.. early torque translate to better pickup and some how translate to better fuel efficiency as well).

The 7 speed DSG is also another big highlight of VW vehicle.. the dual-cluth allow seamless gear change and you wont feel (or minimal) gear shift jerk in between gear change.. fast gear shifting reduce torque loss during gear change.. more gears allows your car to choose the more appropriate gear ratio at different speed and different driving situation.. overall better fuel efficiency because you have more gear ratio for different driving condition, lesser torque loss during gear change, and better acceleration bcos of seamless gear shift and lower torque loss..

So Miss, now you see the wonder of the polo, small but powerful, fast pickup, great fuel efficiency (award winning car), and the pride of owning a VW.. we havent even start talking about the good handling of the German car.. that will be another long story..

p/s: wat else, paying "proton savvy road tax" for a high performance car..

Kenot fight interms of acceleration la.. its a combo of torque, power, gear and the whole power transmission down to the wheel... vios might have the same power, but torque and gear technology lose by a mile.. laugh.gif

No need to mention about transmission loss, as the Civic's 5AT only robs approximately 20% of power to the wheels, which is very close to that of a manual tranny.

If you look at this vid, you'll see that the lack of low end torque doesn't impede the Civic, as the gears are designed to upshift at around its max torque output for flat out driving:

Nonetheless, that @$$-shoving low end torque of the Polo is more fun as a daily driver. If only the seats weren't so cramped lol...
