for a 1.4litre and 156k, this is i think one of the cars in the market which you pay the least import tax

anyways, for those who are contemplating

mind you, service costs is not that cheap
i have a vw on it's second year service now(service interval is 15k km)
30k km, the bill came close to about a thousand

i tested the golf gti... the performance... my God... i tried to step the pedal for overtaking during the test drive and i was like holy fffffff... i didn't even step half of the pedal and the car was like accelerating like a jet! the 6 speed dsg changes from 2k rpm to 4k rpm in a sec!

if you compare it with a jap... 3 times service at 5k km interval... european is just slightly more expensive only right?
*
15k km normal oil change is about RM500
then the next 15k km(30k km) come close to RM1k
next 15k km(45k km) IIRC it's about RM800
on the 60k km, the bill is RM2.6k
the 75k km one will be more, i dont know how much yet

total service costs for 4 years(assume you stick to the 15k km interval) is about RM5k, not inclusive of other stuffs such as wipers, tires and brake pads.
the total service and parts costs for my VW over the last two years came close to about RM500x3 +RM1k +RM350 =~ RM2.9k

oh, i service my car every 7.5k km, instead of 15k km

i can safely assume that your maintenance for this car will costs you about RM100-200/month

yea lo,thats why my uncle until now still driving manual gear, instead of auto. Auto easy to spoil, i heard this from 8 years old to 28 years old tongue.gif

but now i heard 7 speed DSG got problem....seems like pug AL4 not too bad after all.
*
yes, but that's for the 1.4litre TSI used in the polo, golf's safe

QUOTE(stinger82 @ Aug 9 2010, 04:56 PM)
so, to cut it short, for 100,000 km, total is how much? civic is about RM7k++, 308T also around there. i think VW should be the same, or not more than RM10k?
*
for 100k km, should be about 8k-9k, i didnt bother asking about the price, cuz it will take me aeons to reach there, and by the 5th year, warranty habis, i'll service it outside already

QUOTE(sphiroth @ Aug 9 2010, 05:12 PM)
AFAIK, the maintenance of a direct injection engine is more expensive than injection engine. The same also for DSG compared with normal AT tranny.
*
you're wrong
for eg:
the Aisin 6speed auto used in certain VW's uses Aisin's own ATF, costs RM112/litre, overall replacement of ATF costs RM1.2k(include other parts also)
their own DSG fluid costs RM9x/litre, overall replacement costs? RM650 laugh.gif

previously the TSI engine used in the older GTis burns engine oil to function well, a hard driven GTi requires 1litre of engine oil top up every 3k km or so(each litre costs RM68 tongue.gif and THAT cannot be purchased outside, it's a specially formulated castrol for VW cars, and if they found out that you uses non-castrol engine oil? *poof* goes your engine warranty laugh.gif )

new one im not very sure smile.gif

hahaha, sorry, i meant my fingers tongue.gif
the DSG is super responsive that's why i am wondering why the need for paddle shifts...
i was cruising at 6 when i wanted to overtake, i just tapped the accelerator and the gear shifted to 3rd immediately! instantaneous power... geng rclxms.gif
*
DSG shifts fast and smooth, but which gear it will go still depends on the driver
with paddle shifter, you can control which gear you want to go to

no wonder you dont feel anything that is not right when i mentioned that why there arent any manual override function in Fiesta's dual clutch transmission doh.gif

the size of 308 isnt great too... so polo is even worst??? but actually this shouldn't be any problem since most the time only 2 person (driver and 1 passenger).
*
polo's rear seat is only meant for shorter distance, it's not spacious, but if you only fetch 1 person most of the time, you dont see much difference, apart from being more narrow

QUOTE(kenji1903 @ Aug 11 2010, 11:30 AM)
depends on what you want... Polo is B segment, 308 is C segment... i'm a VW fan so i'll definitely go for VW if i have the money...

now headache whether to get Vios E at RM900+ per month or squeeze a bit and get the Polo at RM1200+ per month...
*
take in consideration of depreciation, parts availability, service costs as well
good thing about a vios is, most workshops out there can and know how to fix one
i cant say the same about VWs

It was Vagsg forum that made me hesitate a bit initially on Golf. It's quite active forum but most of the post are on the 'negative' side of VW especially on after sales, DSG or mechatronics.
Anyway I told myself what the hell.....using Proton all my life, time for upgrade.  Car already at the branch , now just need to settle  trade in,  NCB...etc,etc  maybe couple of days more.
*
very simple, if your car is problem free, you wouldnt open a thread saying how problem free your car is, amirite? because you expect the car to perform this way, however, when it starts to give you problem
you tend to look for the solution online by asking questions in the forum

and therefore you can only find problems in most car-specific forum tongue.gif
