It is time to upgrade yourself and migrate to a higher level i.e. FHD movies in MKV/TS/BDMV/ etc if HDD is the choice; or else, Bluray Disc to enjoy the full HD video. These formats now carry HD Audio as well which is non existence in DVD. Nowday, for leisure, DVDs are saved into HDD and play via PMP (Personal Media Player e.g. Divico, AC Ryan, Medexer, WD, Asus Player, Pop Corn, etc.). You can put 250 DVD9 quality movies (~8GB each with menu) into a 2TB HDD and watch until your eye balls drop.

The entry level Bluray Player (costing ~RM5xx) can do better job than any of the entry level DVD player you have. If you do not have high end CD player and Stereo Receiver, Bluray Player can produce pure / audible audio for your ears as a normal listener.

We have migrated from Tapes - VCD - LD - DVD - Bluray Disc / FHD Movies and it is a natural path to do so. New receivers now can auto calibrate your sound via Audyssey and better models are able to perform upscalling of video signal better (via Faroudja) than any DVD/Bluray players.

Time to move forward and not left behind.....................
