Dear all,

My car will arrive soon, i wonder if it is fine for me to wax it say within 1 week?

Apart from the engine break-in rule [don't need another debate biggrin.gif ], are there any general things that i do / refrain from doing?

Thank you.

Buy kit brand wax for your car with listed 0-2 years.Normally we can see many at the supermarket...Please be sure dont buy wrong like 'Polish' liquid..Because your car still new ,use polish will be damaging your original paint colour and removing the protective layer of your car.Buy WAX..any brand also can.

but if really serious..That a rule said that dont wax the car since the paint is still new because it will be also damaging the paint and ur cost..They said must wax at least after 90 days..So please take note.

New car no need wax la .. wait 1 month+ edi only wax .. because the wax will seep inside your lacquer coating .. might cause blurring of the coating, then you'll see patches on your car ..

Try using silicon coating instead smile.gif

firstly congratulation for getting your new car!

about the car u r getting, it's a hotcake or something already in stock for long time? if it's a hotcake, better wax the car only after some time. i can see u r type of people take good care of the new car, just go ahead with the brand meguiars, no point to wax time on others brand, unless u have a limited budget. and also, i assume your new car is a hotcake, don't ever polish the car!!! if it already lay in warehouse parking for sometimes, get recommend from the pros to see whether polish is really require or not.

thanks man smile.gif

about the car i'm getting, i think it's neither hotcake nor already in stock. I was told by the sales personnel that my car is more of cold storage in the sense that demand and production is low though I doubt his statement. My car is the satria neo lite. Been waiting for roughly a month + and the car will arrive in matter of weeks. Haha, i'm not that rich to go for branded goods...in fact, i purchased turtle wax car wash + the super shell wax.

From the reply here, it seems that polish is to be avoided. I guess, it'll be better for me to drive the car for say 1 or 2 weeks, then start waxing.

yes, the thing with car maintenance is that, everybody seem to have different point of view. Some say waxing a new car the earlier the better, whereas some say not to do it.
Just like engine break in, some say dont rev above 3k rpm before the first service whereas some believe that the engine should be trashed since day 1. LOL....

forget abt turtle wax product.. if u can spend more a bit, i suggest u to get Meguiar's #16... is more lasting than most OTC wax... however, their NXT2.0 has rather short durability.

most probably ur car is already out of factory more than 90days.. unless it is really less than 90days, then is not recommended to wax as the paint needs time to cure in..

and remember, surface preparation is the ultimate-must-remember-and-do-well step before u start waxing a car.

and, ur washing technique too..

enjoy car life! biggrin.gif

waxing is fine
but make sure it is only wax
cos some was are wax+cleaner or wax+polish, meaning there are some cleaning/rubbing/abrasive compound in it and you would want to avoid those
but like most saiy, just leave it for a month or so first, your car would come with some wax layer, just see how water beads and run off

thanks for the link. it is really helpful.
Again, there is a discussion in that link which clearly said that there is 2 school of thoughts here. LOL this is like the differing 'engine-break in school of thought'. haha

depends on how u see... if u search around detailers' community, u dun see 'turtlewax' pops up in the discussion.. try google for collinite, finish kare, menzerma, wolfgang, poorboys, mothers, duragloss, DP, 3M or maybe pinnacle.. then u will know turtlewax is cheap in terms of pricing..

if u wan to be safer side, just wait another 90days...

remember, washing technique is important to ensure there's no scratches and swirls.
