anyone here use Onkyo sound card before?
how is the sound quality if compared with Audiotrak Prodigy sound card and Asus Xonar Essence ST?

I have prodigy hifi and x-fi.prodigy is superb. asus i never tried. But i would really want to try the onkyo. Theres a forumer whos modding it. I think its a bit pricey the onkyo (correct me if i'm wrong).anyone selling it in malaysia?

For music, i'd go for HD2, but cant say if compared to onkyo.

how about the sound quality of Onkyo SE-200PCI compared to Asus Xonar Essence ST?
i think it cost more than the Asus Xonar Essence ST.

My fren had one he said its a very good soundcard but for the price tag its not really worthy it furthermore u require a very good setup to pair with it or its pretty useless

ST is correct... the part that connect to the mobo is PCI

currently using HD438 only.
and the asus xonar card is ST, since it is pci version.

ST card got clock to reduce jitter.

I have heard my friend who used to Onkyo card say its sounds good for vocal.

Anyways, ignoring the troll, these cards do perform well. And well suited to be entry level soundcards for music.

haha... i did listened to one of my friend's friend using asus stx mod all opamps to burson and RM6000 crystal XO...

Asus xonar stx overall is better than hd2 where i audit b4..in term gaming, asus more feature and my hd2 got compatible with some game (bsod) and cant use mic. HD2 did better after changing the op. if really no budget and only concern about sound/music, ts can suggest try hd2 coz there are alot good review and i had point out it weakness as well..onkyo card maybe ts can risk urself and give us some review on it?

Esi juli@ hard to find..ST is too $$..and tat Onkyo SE-200PCI also not worth for tat price.. Onkyo SE-90PCI maybe can try hunt for it but it level should be on par with hd2. but remember that ur song sources must be good as well ur speaker..

Stop trolling, you are the only one who know nothing about Xonar cards. ST have CS2000 jitter reducer chip on the card, the crystal clock is still the same, not just the PCI to PCIe bridge.

IF U WANNA SOMETHING REALLY MEANT FOR MUSIC THEN U MUST NEED A DAC, CHEAPEST SOLUTION IS USB DAC.

maybe you can try the WDM driver for via24 for windows7 .. probably the audiotrak's driver not really stable for windows7? i own a via24 controller soundcard as well and the new wdm driver (5.40f) is pretty stable so far (mine used to crash and BSOD like mad)

Otherwise u could go for dac/amp.

tube has life span for most small tube is about 10k hours usually go more.
for russian small tubes is different, 1khours, 3k hours also got..

would like to roll back my suggestion, maverick dac its not really a tube dac.
