Why not?

I dont downgrade my experience, only adding options to whatever devices that I have. In this case, the 11.6" MBA is another device in a lighter category, and the 13.3" MBA is replacing the 13.3" 2009 MBA that I currently have. I like having options. It's like choosing which ties to wear to go to work, or which cufflinks/pocket squares to pair with a suit.

Selling the old MBA? biggrin.gif

It is. PM or tweet. I'm looking for that someone who utters/type that magic figure. I'm still inclined to keep it, it's the last MBA with backlit keyboard.

I flip-flopped between 11.6" and 13.3" model. I initially wanted to get the "Ultimate 11.6" MBA" model, but after reading up ArsTechnica on the relevance of getting 2/4GB RAM on the new MBA, I decided that 2GB is enough. I was in Apple Store Chadstone in Melbourne at that time and they have the 11.6" model with 2GB RAM in stock, so I bought it there and amended the online order straight up to the "Ultimate 13.3" MBA". The amendment prolonged the order period to what it is now.

Plug your airwaybill number into www.dhl.com.my and see if there's any updated info.

Impossible that yours shipped the same time as the lot of us and not getting it by then.

You can try, but they're closed today. I tried calling them today to see if I can self-pickup my order, but all I get are recorded messages on their toll free number. Even so, they'll be referring to the same information on their terminal based on the airwaybill number you give them that gives out the same data. Best to wait for the shipping info to update itself before calling.

Hey guess what.. I called their 1800 number and a guy picked up immediately. I gave him my tracking number and he says my package is already in Malaysia and will be delivered tomorrow. So their website for tracking is basically useless.. duh..

@Edoras : I placed the order on the 24th and got the "Shipment" email on the 28th.

Made that call. The personnel said that although the package has been cleared by customs, it is still there at the customs checkpoint at the airport. DHL liasing delivery staff will only be picking up these released orders by tomorrow at 9am before distributing it into delivery vans to customers. Looks like I'll be missing my delivery as I have to leave my house by 6 am tomorrow for work.

I asked if I can self-collect. She said it's impossible since the customs people need to liase with DHL rep to release the packages. Self-collect is only available if the package is already at the DHL hub.

I think what he meant is that the unit is fast irregardless of the supposed claim that 2GB isn't enough and would slow things down. I think it only makes sense to max out the specs only if you plan heavy duty work on it, and to do so, I only see the 2.13GHz model being able to adequately do so.

To those waiting for their Airs, from the chatter I hear in here, am I correct to assume that the order hadn't been dispatched yet!!!? WTF is DHL doing? Sitting on their collective asses?

I foresee facing similar headaches as you guys when I get back. Argghh! vmad.gif

Tested boot time on ultimate MBA...the moment Apple logo appears...start counting..only 9 seconds!!!

I am impressed!!!

The boot time is comparable to the iPad during first start. Once started, the INSTANT ON feature kicks in and it's exactly like iPad when turns on after activating from sleep! I'm in the process of unboxing and doing Mibration Assistant on the new Ultimate.

I did not migrate..basically just copy backup iPhoto and iTunes library only. All apps I opt for fresh install smile.gif
*
LOL That is what my 11.6" MBA is for.tongue.gif I configured it to the perfect operating environment I wanted it to be, and now with the 13.3" here, "migrate" the entire 11.6" settings and files to the 13.3". That way, they both share all the settings and most importantly the external iTunes library setup I've set up on the 11.6".

My 13" MBA have no flicker issue so far but the have trackpad problem yesterday. After using for whole day in office, suddenly I can't click on anything. Cursor can move around but nothing happen when I double tap or click... have to manually shut it down by pressing the power key. Apps in progress was Itunes, MS office excel and Firefox).
After restart, everything back to normal... phew....

If you happen to had your MBA around fluorescent light bulbs, interference from this light sources have the effect you described. I had the unfortunate accident of finding out that effect when I had both two things in close contact. It was even worse, the trackpad was not registering anything at at all, with the whole MBA freezing eventually. This happened on my old MBA. The bulb also was keaking minute electrical charges that tranmitted to the metal body of the MBA It did not just affect my MBA, but my other mobile equipment as well, such as my MiFi, causing itto frequently disconnects the iPad. I have since learnt to be mindful of where I place my electronics.

Fluorescent light bulbs have effect on trackpad? Damn... The nearest light was about 5 feet away.

This type. Leaked unshielded interference from this type of bulb will affect your portable electronics. The latesthillips-type that coils around has better shielding thus less prone to anomalies.

No problem. I know that most of the time, these bulbs are located on ceilings and such, but during my case, it was attached to the inside of a display counter, with metal and glass enclosure around it. That just exacerbates things further.

In related news, my Waterfield Suede Jacket and Waterfield SleeveCase for my MBA 11.6" has arrived. They are GORGEOUS with the Suede Jacket feels like you're slipping the MBA into something velvety and smooth as silk. Because it is a jacket, it is slim as well, and as a bonus, fits into my Waterfield Portable Muzetto leather bag as well! It is so slim that I can still put in my iPad encased in the Waterfield SmartCase and STILL have room to spare! Thanks Gary for the personal touches and thank you Waterfield! notworthy.gif

For my Ultimate MBA 13.3", I've already ordered the Par Avion Leather Envelope from Shuky. They'll be there for me to pick up once I'm in Melbourne again on the 12-14th. You can get the Leather Envelope from BagsNPacks.

If anyone is interested in these items, here are the links where you can get them from:-

www.sfbags.com, click "Laptop Sleeve" and the two options, Suede Jacket and SleeveCase for MBA is there.

P/S: That Youtube video you see on that link, with the person doing the product demo, is Gary Waterfield himself, the company CEO. With every purchase I made from them, I have never failed to get a personal note from him thanking me for the purchase. Really nice personal touch!

www.bagsnpacks.com.au look under "Shop by Designer" for the Shuky brand, and the Par Avion Leather Envelope for MBA will be there.

Their respective pictures:-

No problems guys on the info, I pass down the info as I've learnt it the hard way, was lucky it didn't kill my electronics totally.

To the post by rheza02, you have been reported for subtle trolling. I've observed that you've been trolling another forum member, Edoras for his choices and preferences and stuck your trollbaits in your signature. Now you're moving on with the term "Ultimate" being used in context with the new MBAs. For everyone's info, the term "Ultimate" was coined to differentiate between the many available different configs available for both the 11.6" and 13.3", to facilitate recognition of which model buyers are interested in. I dont care for your mocking tone when it comes to this term, as well as your post not adding anything useful to the discussion.

I also believe that the community here has more common sense than using /k/ style sentences like "kthxbai". Your post reeks of trollbait.

I leave it to the moderators to judge this. If I'm over-reading into all this, mods please point me out and I'll accept.
