Yup..the RM199 for new installation of Astro.

Added on October 5, 2010, 4:25 pm

What!!! That 33% more than what Astro is selling them for. Go to any Astro Branch and you can buy for RM30.

dude... why do u need to be like this???

we live in Malaysia la... and this is how Malaysian are known to speak... and I think its cool cos it kinda give us some unique identity...

aren't you proud to be a Malaysian??

lets just focus on the topic which is ASTRO Byond...

RTM in HD... ahaha... not impossible costhey have been testing that for a while... but.. If the style is still the same... it will just magnify the boringness more...
*
I agree with you that's how Malaysian speak and I do sometimes do la la also. But when I write I try my best to write proper English, because you write in the forum the world will laugh at you la la.

Most people already subscribe to byond when PVR was launched or new business is slow for astro.  brows.gif
*
I agree with you, I upgrade to B.yond PVR from Max (Klang account) in June or July 2010 and got 12 months recording fee waived for 12 months. (Free Installation).

Recently I wanted to upgrade from max again from my Seremban accaount. I use a max there but Astro CS says under the account only register a Thompson decorder, so not eligible for free upgrade, so I did not upgrage. But last saturday I call and they agree to upgrade free from max to B.yond PVR and recording fee waive for 24 months. I think now most people interested in B.yond or B.yond PVR already upgrade. (Free Installation also).

add more HD channel will decrease the bitrate of every HD channel?
*
I think one day Astro will only broadcast in HD only, then the bitrate will increase. No need double the channel, if you DON'T subscribe to HD service Astro just defeat the HDMI port. Astro still broadcast in HD and those didn't subscribe HD get only SD.

Just SKY News HD feed for now.

Atleast RTM is ready, while haven't heard news from Media Prima yet. wink.gif

Even if our free to air tv broadcast in digital I still stick to Astro because of Movies, Dynasty and AOD. We watch all latest programme on Astro, deifnetely free to air tv can't do that.

Yup.. not all HDTV right now came with HD tuner. But with byond, we'll don't need that tuner.  biggrin.gif
BTW, I remember a few year ago when RTM introduce digital STB to selected user in certain area around KL. What already happen to that project?  doh.gif
*
Maybe RTM no money to introduce digital tv, need to buy an extra set-top box. They (the Government) have to give the set-top box to the poor, cos they could not afford to buy. I think with b.yond we don't need another set-top box to watch free to air digital tv broadcast. Anyway with the content they broadcast whether in digital or not, I stick to Astro.

I believe 1080i is the way to go as far as Astro is concerned. Whether the original source at Astro is 720p or 1080i (or others), all of them gets transmitted by Astro at 1080i to our decoders (refer to the Astro website). So, I don't see any point in using the decoder to again change the resolution of the picture feed to our TVs or AVRs. The more times you convert the resolution, the more detrimental it is to the quality of the picture.

You may probably benefit more from setting at 720p if you are getting your picture feed at 720p.

Of course, it may be a different story if you have good interlacing features in your TV or AVR and you use them to do the interlacing instead of the Astro decoder.

Actually how many people are subscribing to B.yond, percentage?

hey guys. i have byond but wanted to upgrade to byond pvr. i can use usb drive rite for recording storage? since the upgrade is plug play
*
If you want to use an external drive, when you are recording you can't watch another channel and you have to buy the 320GB Western Digital My passport. If you upgrade to the B.yond PVR with dual LNB can record two channel, watch one of the recorded channel, 500GB hard disk.

So far I never experience a reset while watching b.yond, but do experience with Astro Max. But B.yond do hang, if you can't on the b.yond and have to do a hard reset.

my frens byond decorder hang almost everyday.. mine just upgrade to byond a month ago. how to do the hard reset? is this normal the decoder hang sometimes? how to avoid it?
*
You should try this first, there is power on off button on the left hand side of the B.yond box, press the button until it restart to boot up. If this does not work you have to 'off' the power switch supply and 'on' back after 30 seconds.

astro byond is not a separate package, it's an add-on. This means if you cancel sports, you don't get sports HD
*
Actually you have to subscribe to HD services at RM20.00 on top of your current subscribtion to view HD services.

If currently there are no tax then next year my bill will increase rm5.8 just for tax. My currrent bill is rm96.95.  doh.gif
So monthly i have to pay more than rm100. 1 Malaysia rakyat diutamakan  sad.gif
*
If you cannot afford to pay the tax then don't subscribe to Astro. You can watch free to air TV, that's what I think the Governmnet wants us to do.

Yeah.. like a not, we'll have to pay that damm tax. But I think it not fair to all malaysian people because our government not provide best FTA (free to air TV) service, coverage and quality to all malaysian people. That why people have subscribe astro.

I also curious what government want to do with that tax to develop broadcasting industry?  hmm.gif
*
Last year budget introduce RM50 service tax for credit card, in the end many people cancel credit card. So this year sales tax on astro wonder people will cancel astro.
