I love Astro, there are too many of my favorites channels and I have used them up, anyway to add extra 'fav' ?

i wonder if the LAN slot in Byond Box can be used for other purpose besides IPTV.. say to enable iPhone(or other model) apps to control the box via WLAN (like VLC remote apps)..
*
this is conjecture at this point, no? For example, if someone builds the software and firmware update into the Byond box, it can be hooked up to the internet and pull information from IMDB for any movie you happen to be watching. Or another software could be hooked up to order pizza from the Pizza Hut website... or control the coffee maker

i am currently using normal astro decoder which got subscribe sport and documentaries channel.

wanted to know, if i upgrade to astro beyond. do i need to cancel sport and documentaries channel? since astro beyond aldy got this.
*
astro byond is not a separate package, it's an add-on. This means if you cancel sports, you don't get sports HD

The answer is very obvious  cool2.gif

what is obvious is we are going to have to pay whatever tax is imposed, as long as we subscribe to pay-TV services.

what is not so obvious is this is a good thing, because if you can't afford pay-TV then obviously you are not going to be taxed for anything you do not consume. same goes, obviously, for GST.

It's an equitable rule, IMO - if you are rich and have 4 Astro boxes all over the house, then you will pay more tax than the average joe.

any way to "copy" out those recorded shows?
*
no, I think that would be illegal under terms of use of Astro subscription

Astro is installing B.yond box for new subscriber whether or not they subscribe to HD Services.  If Astro will to change all to B.yond box then those will don't subscribe to HD Services will recieve the HD & SD channel but their HD port disable that mean they can use RCA cable (HD channel but SD picture).  Then Astro only needs to broadcast in HD only no need to duplicate in SD, so free up the bandwidth.  And Astro will change all to B.yond box, cos AOD subscriber always switch their smart card with thier friends.  B.yond box smart card can't be interchange.

there's no scaler in the byond box is there?

hai all..noob here with astro beyond.
wanna ask if anybody here pasang the splitter for 1 astro beyond but 2 television?
i have been used a splitter before at my old astro so now im trying to do it with my astro beyond.is it possible?
will it effect the pic or sound or the hd channel?

anyone, help?thanks
*
how many decoders? if you have two, get a two-output LNB from Astro. We are advised not to put a splitter on hd channels; I guess physically you can try, but if you have a problem then you can't complain.

If you have one decoder and two TVs, well, a HDMI splitter will work I guess...

wait, why do people spend thousands of RM on a widescreen TV but refuse to spend rm20 per month for HD... I dun get it. You say for BD? so you spend $ on BD player AND BD discs but refuse to spend that rm20 per month? BD players cost 2 years of byond service or more... and BD discs are more than that. So ... it's not the money

to make matters worse, SD channels are crap on large widescreen TVs and the only upside to Astro on large TVs is byond.
