LGW (Gatwick), besides being nearer, is much easier because you can take the local train for a reasonable price. STN's trains are relatively more expensive (either the Express or the railway) - which then leaves you the bus to Victoria Stn - traffic can be bad and the journey will take 1+ hour(s).I think both airports are equally the same getting into london.
