Can't blame newbies are always giving compact home theater system the first choice because they look nice and contemporary. Further more, the adverts are everywhere. Its an easy no brainier choice.
I was in that situation too. But lack of inputs and outputs. substandard surround decoding capability, speaker sound like noise rather than music, makes me change to AVR setup with real speakers. Very satisfied. I will never go back the compact Home Theater in a box. |

if u have many hardware need to connect...then AVR is your choice..if you only have one component to connect then HTS is cheaper choice

hmm this set is tempting... but im just using it for gaming so does dolby true hd and dts hd makes any difference? im seeing some avr decode it and some don't is it worth to go for that? and at the most budget price how much i can get 1 that decode dts hd and dt bd? one more question they r saying the sony ht-sf470 decode dts hd rite? but im wondering is it worth it if possible i wanna get avr This post has been edited by krixko: Aug 3 2010, 11:08 AM |

QUOTE(krixko @ Aug 3 2010, 10:59 AM) i dun think i hv much 2 connect just my ps3 and xbox 2 components only...Yeah..in the beginning everyone will say like that, just like first time apply for credit card...99% will say use only during emergency...later on, every weekend is emergency hmm this set is tempting... but im just using it for gaming so does dolby true hd and dts hd makes any difference? im seeing some avr decode it and some don't is it worth to go for that? and at the most budget price how much i can get 1 that decode dts hd and dt bd? one more question they r saying the sony ht-sf470 decode dts hd rite? but im wondering is it worth it if possible i wanna get avr For me DolbyTrueHD and DTSHDMA is like day and night difference compared to the basic DD and DTS...but I dunno abt others. Get an AVR lah |

They also are on cost reductions...so do some homework first.Never buy Panasonic HTiB. I dun think it supports DTS through its inputs. |

For gaming only you dont need DTS-MA/TrueHD. Just normal HTib like the Sony sf470 will be good enough.
