Anyone using a mechanical keyboard? I been reading it lately and found it very interesting.. I mean tempted.. haha

I am looking for some production friendly keyboard actually, still find expensive gaming keyboard more to a marketing gimmick than actually functioning really well. But they looks so nice on your work desk.

It's very troublesome for hardware change.. just taking out a mouse last time gave me so much headache.. cutting all the cable ties (mine were permanent 1). Took me half a day to took out all the cable ties and replace them later..

Now I just connect my mouse and keyboard to my monitor's usb output (6 of them there). looks perfectly neat as well..

I also use those PVC tube you mentioned up there.. it's very troublesome actually, for my case I use it to enclose my extension plug, telephone wiring from plug to my work desk, in order to put the cable in, I would have to take out the plug wiring, and put all the cable in and reinstall the plug.

It's easy and fast (faster I mean, not really that fast anyway), It can wrap more cable and easily break into smaller pieces if you want to.

I liked led keyboard, but if it's not mechanical, not NKRO (via usb to ps2 adapter), and the key print type isn't durable (laser etched, dye sublimated or doubleshot), or not using the mechanical switch i prefer ( Cherry mx Brown, red or clear ) then i won't consider it at all.
I recommend people to read this article for an introduction why mechanical keyboards is a better investment than rubber dome keyboards.

IMO, BW your best choice.
since you don't need those extra bling except for media keys.
you can look into Gigabyte K800 too 

most of the mech kb's have serious no-nonsense look,
6Gv2, 7G & Filco..
so yeahh, not easy to find one with media keys.

How much is the OCZ Alchemy Elixir? I heard it's inexpensive. Looking for a gaming keyboard not exceeding RM150.

Also where is the Alchemy sold? Havent seen it anywhere.

Hm there is an interesting thing i found out.

Seems usb can do full nkro after all for certain keyboards.

The keyboard box has a small gap in it so you can push the keys. So if you can visit their shop, you can try out the buttons.

Funny thing is, I'm at around 80-100WPM with my rubber dome Logitech Internet Pro keyboard.

Wonder what wonders will the mechanical keyboard give me... hmmm...

I don't think it will increase my WPM that much but it certainly does help in the feel and comfort department. I definitely HATE the Shift key on my keyboard.
Btw, the S,N and M key are 100% gone after 4 years of use. The K,A,L are coming off soon too. Almost all of my alphabet keys and the spacebar are now shiny.
