I guess that unrevoked method only worked when your handset is unrooted
Once you rooted and reflashed to custom ROM it will recognize it as N1 (I guess).

Are you using ROM manager? Do you have the option to flash alternate recovery? Mine is greyed out in the menu
*
So u are saying that u rooted ur phone twice, first old method and second unrevoked?

Wanted to ask, if I want to access and buy apps from the Market, how do I register? I've already got Market Access but when I want to buy it asks for my address upon registration and it doesn't have Malaysia. I can use a UK address but I just wanted to know what do most people do here.

I've been wondering when the Official Froyo Rom is released in SEA, do we need to unroot our Desire (Maxis set) to the original state before flashing the Froyo? How are we going to unroot? Factory settings, would it work?
*
I think u can find the answer on first page or find it in my blog.

Hello there, i wanna ask a question yar smile.gif

You know how they say that rooting the phone will void the warranty, right?
but sumhow i've asked around and looked around that the HTC Desire will not detect/keep track that the phone had been root n stuffs..

so how does it occur that the warranty will b void?
*
No, dont worry. The warranty will not void. Just read faqs section on first page of this thread about rooting.

Btw, poison me which ROM to download. OpenDesire ? NextSense ? LeeDroid ?
*
if u want sense, modaco r8 is quite good and stable. no sense try the latest nightly cyanogenmod 08182010 it's now has better battery life, coz the OJ bugs should be fixed by now.

any other ROM u wanna recommend me ? for my first ROM on flash biggrin.gif
*
i dont like nextsense or leedroid. it takes too long for the first boot, i hate that. my recommendation is modaco r8, cyanogen nightly (the latest one, it even beats the rc2) or delite. if i'm not busy on friday, i'll help u.

QUOTE(wcyly @ Aug 18 2010, 06:04 PM)
I finally rooted my desire using the unrevoked method after considering to do or not to do for a long time and reading and rereading instructions from a few sites. You know lah, scared I mess up the phone. Anyway, finally took the plunge and everything went smoothly and at the end of the process, after rebooting, my Desire had the Superuser Permissions icon which I take it to mean my device is rooted.

Now, as soon as the phone got rebooted at the end of the rooting process, my phone suddenly had a notification saying "low on space" .. phone is low on memory space or something like that.

Before I rooted my phone, I had been running on 15MB of available memory for a couple of weeks and this notification never came up. As soon as it got rooted, the memory space showed 14MB available along with the "low on space" notification. I rebooted the phone but notification wont go away.

Did a search on google, but not much help.

I deleted one 12MB Talking Tom program just to test out and the the notification finally went away after rebooting. I hope the stupid notification wont come back as I read a couple of threads that your phone cannot istall stuff or receive mail/sms as long as the notification is up.

So, 2 questions I have for the gurus here please:

1.  Why the notification only appeared after I rooted the phone, while I had been running on virtually same amount of memory space (15MB) for 2 weeks unrooted.

2. Why do I have so little memory available on my Desire? I dont install any games or GPS maps at all, except for the Talking Tom thing for my kids. Other than that, it's all just productivity type software and stuff. From what I can see on the stats on the phone, the available disk space is 147MB only on my Desire and if I had 15MB left, means that I used up 132MB on not many programs/data.

When I backup all my apps using mybackup Pro, the whole zip backup file for ALL applications (minus 12MB Talking Tom) is only 32MB and Data backup is only about 1MB. So, where the hell did the remaining 100MB of disk space go? I can't find any useful info in "manage applications" interface in settings.

Someone out there can help me shed some light on this problem? I hope the notification wont come back but at the same time, my phone memory needs sorting out and I hope rooting my phone will help solve the problem.

Thanks.
*
1. if i'm not mistaken the notification will show up if ur memory has less than 15mb
2. u should format ur phone first before rooting it. if u have less memory, probably u have to much cache on ur phone. u need to clean it. try install cachemate to clean cache.

ohh.. actually how to differentiate between got sense UI and non sense UI
i still not very clear bout it..
but i'm using eclair now... i kinda like the interface i have now~
*
non sense is like on nexus one. the interface is different, it's simpler and lighter than sense. so it's good if u like to play 3D games and dont want to feel any lag.

Well, i always clear my cache in recovery. I feel that is a better and easier way though smile.gif Can clear together with other stuffs. Not sure whats the use of clearing Davlik Cache though tongue.gif
*
u dont have to go to recovery just to clean cache. if ur rom has busybox u can try to install cachecleaner, it's a good cache cleaner.

then those " long press the screen, add widget "
is this htc thingy ??
ish~ neva got the chance to oplay my friends's nexus 1
so till now also donno the diff of sense UI
maybe i'll try try to root without sense UI... cyanogen ~  since its highly recommended by u all biggrin.gif
*
you still can add widget on no-sense (vanilla), but cant add htc widget. try to add widget on ur phone now and see below the apps' name. you will see two different types, htc and android. so, if u flash no-sense rom u wont find htc apps.

Wow. CM rc2 damn nice. First time I feel Vanilla UI so damn cool.

cyanogen is the best vanilla rom. the boot animation is cool, isnt it? but u will experience battery drained using the rc2. try the latest nightly.
