For music player, try 天天动听(TTpod), can play according to folder, genre, singer and so on. can auto download lyric, singer wallpaper as well.
For play avi format, try Smart Movie. But recommend stick on MP4

among those, i only tried handbrake. The output quality really nice. but take quite long time to convert. 2hours movie need arround 2 hour conversion time. from 1GB rmvb movie to MP4 need 2GB.
