lol... DDLs of mkv is fine for me, but strangely enough surfing when DDLs are on introduces a choking lag to surfing, even after limiting connections allowed to the server... Latency to websites climbs to the thousands when DDL is on...
Started happening around yesterday...

QUOTE(prasys @ Jul 31 2010, 07:46 PM) Fair enough , i like to share with you guys. I've information from an insider which I've called. Its true , they is a if condition , if your avi site is not from a list (dont ask me what list , i am guessing whitelisted video sites) your file would be throttled Do a simple test , rename your mkv as blahaf.jpg and transfer , it will be fast. So i am not sure about your torrent provider , if they allow you to so , you may want to rename it as jpg or gif or png or some other format and transfer across and then rename it back. Next time when posting dont boast your god damn speeds , like ZOMG 1Mbps streamyx can download 500 via rapidcrap This is pretty mad, they're infringing on http transfers now. Where will it end? One after another protocols are being blocked, until the day comes when we can only surf websites and check mail. They might as well revert everyone to 56k dialup as the ultimate prevention method. So much for Unifi... One step forwards, two steps back. We really need some net neutrality provisions in this country....

Me thinks that they're conducting this experiment inline with their massive expansion of subscribers that are coming in with the introduction of Unifi and the insane amount of international bandwidth requirements that would come with it....
Imagine this.. all Unifi subscribers watch PPS/torrent at the same time, clogging all international bandwidth that comes into the country, increasing TMs costs tremendously. International bandwidth is a very very expensive commodity and not cheap, as TM is renting the fibre backhaul that is coming into the country, and then reselling it to us as heavily reduced costs...
So i think this is just a preparation step to ensure that when Unifi is fully rolled out, there won't be a massive jam through all international links...
Just my opinion, but you know already how i feel about net neutrality...

QUOTE(zx12 @ Aug 3 2010, 10:17 PM) that doesn't make sense..why give money to other people when u can make money for urself? and why would they offer the 2mb/4mb packages when they know that the only people who use it are downloaders..i dnt think there's a difference btwn 1mb and 4mb in term of web surfing speed..it only matters for large file downloads Reel em in, give em a false sense of security in what they can do with the bandwidth, and then... wait for it.... THROTTLE EVERYTHING, and by then we (the abused customer) would have no other viable option and be forced to stick with the rest of the contract.. Additional bandwidth gained from this measure is then used to aggressively advertise their services, and hook up more poor unsuspecting fools who don't read LYN and therefore is not privy to the situation who end up in the same ****storm we are in.. And thus the cycle continues... TL:DR Advertise ---> People subscribe ----> Time passes, we're comfy ---> THROTTLE ----> Bandwidth freed up used to add more customers ---> Advertise

Here's some food for thought for all:-
"THEY CAME FIRST for the torrenters, and i didn't speak up because i wasn't a torrenter
THEN THEY CAME for the PPSers, and i did not speak up because i didn't PPS
THEN THEY CAME for the Youtubers, and i did not speak up because i didn't use Youtube
THEN THEY CAME for the Direct Downloaders. and i did not speak up because i didn't direct download
THEN THEY CAME for me and by that time no one was left to speak up."

It just goes to show that if you have a method for success for bypassing anything do not publicize it on the forums and brag about it... They are monitoring the thread and closing any holes that you conveniently mentioned....
Just keep it to yourself, or offer it through PM only...

Hmm i can access it too Prasys... without any VPN or proxies too.... Perhaps 218.111.x.x IPs are excluded from ban? This post has been edited by solarmystic: Aug 14 2010, 11:06 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

@Motorbaby
Wireless sucks fat hairy you-know-what... Don't do it.... No matter the temptation.. Speeds always start nice, and then they always go down as the ISP fails to provision more bandwidth to cater for the avalanche of users who potong for the next best thing...
As a result.. ppl complain slow and they all jump back to Stimyx... which makes them cackle with glee and happiness... Until and unless they can provision their own backbones.. all ISPs are beholden to TM Wholesale for their pipes... just like in Aussie where Telstra Wholesale hold's every other ISP by the balls...
For all the flak TM gets, they are the best of the worst of the ISPs in this country...
What we need is a high speed fibre implementation to the home that is not monopolised by one company and is government funded (just like the NBN in Australia) and later on bid by open tender to all the interested ISPs in this country.. so that Jaring and Maxis can join in the land grab..
Then, we'll see prices drop and services improve as each ISP competes for subscribers....

@rainbow6
That's pretty swell... my own home 4Mb connection only nets me about 1.52 GB every hour... but coming from a sub 1 Mb connection previously, this is a nice upgrade for me...
Your office net must be capped at 5MB....
