throttling since 2005. we suffer, being pushed forth and down, so many times, yet we manage endure it. we will manage it in time.

I wonder how many isp / country in the world throttled their user's bandwidth..

does this kind of method practised elsewhere..? I know traffic shaping has been done by many ISP before, hence the bad isp list on wiki.vuze.com/w/Bad_ISPs

are we looking at global rising of media download throttling by ISP?

not worth reporting if you're downloading illegal material or from illegal sources. icon_idea.gif sweat.gif

hmm.. I think tmnut is trying to deploy an intelligent throttle, not just relying on time schedule, or download type.

perhaps they're planning a massive qos rules to ensure optimum speed on their backbone connection.

I generally like that idea, if deployed and taken seriously.

+1. It might cost more for Malaysia but in the long run it's worth every penny.
To be honest, I'm quite fed up with 512Kbps upload speed now.
You think only download is important, for me upload does too.

Since Fiber Optics are equal for both, that's why I'm contemplating for it.
*
I've been dreaming to setup my own webserver using fibreoptic line for years. perhaps I should reconsider unifi just for that. beats paying montly VPS perhaps?

Yea, some of you are under the impression that if you download a MKV via FTP/HTTP/BT it will get throttled when this is not the case.

Those are all 3 diff protocols and require different detection + throttling methods. HTTP is the only protocol that's being throttled based on the file type. The others like BT and PPS are slow because they are throttling those protocols themselves and not based on whats being transferred within them.
*
Yeah.. bt is throttled regardless of filetype.

they're back to shaping actually
