This happened to me last night. I had a TorrentFlux server and the download was way too slow. Something around 30KB/s. Tested with speedtest, the speed was fine but the download was hell slow. I thought it was just some random issue so I didn't pay much attention to it, especially since it disappeared this morning. Means I am currently downloading at full speed at this moment (400KB/s).

A little experiment using my second line.

NOT SLOW

A quick conclusion would be 60.x and 118.x are mostly affected while some 175.x are not. Ones that I recorded without any problem is with .145 and .144.

Was fast this morning, but now back to crawling. One more example to unbelievers. Same file, different extension.

Finished my testing with vapeace (thanks biggrin.gif)

HTTP traffic is being identified and throttled regardless of port number. Switched my webserver port over a few ranges but all were capped.

The only solution now is to :

1) Use a HTTP proxy
2) Use a SOCKS proxy
3) Use a VPN

In any case, you will have to have a server in the middle to bypass this cap.

If it's on my own server, what is my options?

If its your own server, you have shell access and you're downloading from it.. you can either :

1) Opt to rename the file as suggested here
2) Run a local socks/http/vpn on that server.. then download through that socks/http/vpn proxy link. It will use the same amount of bandwidth (since traffic will flow from localhost -> socks daemon on your server side) but it should be uncapped since the traffic will be wrapped within the http/socks proxy or VPN protocol
*
This is a shared server. I can rename it sure, but rename it every single time is very troublesome and for sure not to my other user.

Guess I'll go with the second option. Really annoying la TM cry.gif

6) PPS is throttled too

PPS have no proxy setting.. so only choice is to use VPN.. there a few good VPN provider at LYN service noticeboard
If your program does not have a proxy settings, it is most likely to be using your settings from Internet Options. If you want to do it per application, use software such as Proxifier. This one is paid apps so you have to find one that is free. It will force any app you have set up to use the proxy you have set in that application or just simply force all traffic through it.

it serious case for them it seem.. many company complain TM not doing enough to stop piracy and plus the guarantee fo no censorship of the internet by the government, mena they cant block.. throttle is still ok

can access but slow speed.. not totally block and no speed
*
I think they're not doing it correctly. Sure combating piracy is a good thing. Me myself is trying to change pretty much ahem stuff I have to ori but throttling media files is not the right way. Lets look at the most pirated stuff. Software are not in media files so no throttling for them. MP3s are usually distributed in archives; either rar or zip. Movies/Series usually split-files in rar or HJSplit format. Most of them won't even be affected. Not to mention easily evaded with the right knowledge.

out of 100% internet user i can say 40% are only tech savvy enough on how to bypass it.. remaining 60%
*
Remaining 60% are most probably will be on torrent of which is already throttled anyway. the rest that is running away by going to DDL will mostly go to MU or RS links to get their dose of which most will be in archives hence won't even be affected.

Torrenting is the old days type of file sharing.. because torrent use large amount of data in it header and waste a lot of bandwith... plus the need to upload and fill the share ratio also will congested the already bad line.. i have stop torrenting and moved to paid DDL or MIRC download for certain fansub contents. a lil bit charge on youself wont kill you... help your self... you will help others too. TMnet will always find a way to trottle torrents. so get a new life.. stop torrents use DDL or other method that not need us to leave our PC over night just to upload file that is not need to upload. btw torrent also depends on peer which, if the seed is low then the speed is slow too. in DDL only 1 server is enuf to get full speed if the server is fast. you can get constant speed with less waste and no need to upload.
*
Yet most average Joe still relies on torrent. It just the easiest way to go for them; plus most will use public tracker anyway. They're not going to care about ratio building.

I myself still relies on torrent though not on a direct way. I have torrent server that does all the torrenting and grabs it through HTTP DDL. No more needing to care setting up torrent and/or VPN. But even that now is subjected to TM's great move.

Throttling torrent is somewhat obvious as it is the primary choice when it comes to distributing illegal stuff so I really can't blame them. Same with caps. If the price and caps are right, it's all good. Abusers simply have to pony up more for using more. But doing it for HTTP is just wrong since most pirated stuff, music/movies/series/etc are usually distributed in archives. It's like telling everyone on the road to drive 30km/h because of some rempit driving like a nutcase.

Capping -> Over Cap -> Throttle

Capping -> Over Cap -> Pay Extra

Which 1 will work better?

Options. Some people are willing to pay extra, some are not.

actually in singapore, you'll get fined for illegal downloads, read more about it here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odex%27s_acti...cific_Internett
as for hk, from i know mass p2p download is quite rampant there(may be on par with m'sia)... biggrin.gif

you can get fined in Malaysia as well. The difference the enforcement. Malaysian authorities doesn't seem to care much when it comes to illegal downloading though physical item itself they take it seriously.

Anyone getting slow speed to US server? Mine is insanely slow to my US server. Speed is 20-30kb/s. Not download speed, just the general speed on whatever comes from the server.

I think there's something extremely wrong with 218.x IP. Last time it was insanely unstable going back and forth 400kb/s to 30kb/s every 15 seconds or so. Just now can't even get past 30kb/s and now I'm on 175.x, full speed ahead.

What te hell is TM doing with that 218.x IP?
