Is it true that Kaiki and Senjougahara had romantic feelings for each other and thus Senjougahara betrayed Araragi? The OP seems to hint a lot about that...

Not exactly. I was talking about the art direction/style of the opening.

The latest episode shows that Shaft is making Koi arc the best in SS so far, followed by Neko Shiro.
Greatly depressed how they made Kabuki the most underwhelmed arc |

I thought the latest episode ruined the pacing and the fact that there is no follow up on what's in the closet irks me so much.Greatly depressed how they made Kabuki the most underwhelmed arc |

QUOTE(XPAWNED01 @ Dec 15 2013, 09:56 PM) in the original novel, the pacing was much more slower than this. it's not just about being slow or fast but rather how consistent the pacing is. the first 3 episode builds up greatly, with speed but for some reason the 4th slowed down. they should've simplified it too or make the whole arc longer. it felt like inertia you know.you should be thankful that Shaft cuts unnecessary dialogues or else you'll suffer more of the dragginess. about the closet thing, it will be revealed in the arc's climax. I am not saying 4th ep was bad objectively, rather, relatively. the whole lengthy foreplay with hanekawa didnt at all felt too necessary in the sense that the conversations arent as good as before, and again I reiterate, no mention whatsoever with the closet mystery generally kills the built up suspense which you yourself said, a part of the climax. that doesnt seem wise to me, but that's just me. |

You got your Kabuki and Oni arcs trimmed down massively, it results in pretty bad adaptations so far, considering Shaft has done better in previous installments.I mean hey, I ask you one thing, as the anime audience, by far, what could you understand from Shinobu's back story-telling? I seriously pity the anime-only audiences out there as they didn't get to the whole picture of the supposed first generation Kaii-killer, his rebirth and his death. So as Kabuki, so much of the conversations holding the essence of Araragi and Shinobu's bonds together being cut out until there is nothing left behind, explaining their growing bonds. It's like the only matters in the anime was the whole time-space travel thing. This post has been edited by XPAWNED01: Dec 15 2013, 10:43 PM |

QUOTE(Fizzy-Fiz @ Dec 15 2013, 10:49 PM) agreed on kabuki, but lets judge this on an arc-to-arc basis. SHAFT's simplification of Koi for the first 3 ep was great, I was just disappointed. The 4th one looks okay to me. It need to be done this way, I mean they need to retain the dragginess in this arc thus making the 1st and 4th episode suffers (from my own calculation and justification, I am comparing the anime content to the source material).I think you too would agree ep 4 is the weakest of them so far, and by quite a margin. Shaft simplification in the 2nd and 3rd episode may look like okay to most of the viewers but I need to stress that they totally ignored the back story of Gahara and Kaiki two years ago. They will never coming back, unless in Bluray release, Aniplex decided to insert audio monologue of it just as the same they did to Hanekawa's letter to the cat in Neko Shiro. More cutting means the arc pacing will be ruined further and more anime original contents means unnecessary Shaft's intervene. Iirc, Shaft has never made an AO scenes for Monogatari except for that scene where Oshino Meme met Araragi the last time in Bake. Well, this is the only way Shaft can retain the greatness of the arc without interfering much. If you ask me the worst episode so far, well, it has to be Oni's 1st and 2nd episode. Those were just awful and too rushed. This post has been edited by XPAWNED01: Dec 15 2013, 11:01 PM |

QUOTE(Fizzy-Fiz @ Dec 15 2013, 11:05 PM) I forgot which episode but it is a scene where Oshino Meme saying goodbye to Araragi, while standing on the rooftop of the school ruin. Also there're slight changes made to Nadeko Snake arc which are slightly different from its LN counterpart. Besides these two, Shaft never bother to insert any more original scenes to the franchise, since the LN is still on going. Changing the contents means they made it hard for the original author to keep up with his original ideas. This post has been edited by XPAWNED01: Dec 16 2013, 07:32 PM |
