Hi lanux128,

You can refer to the below list, if it is not there, then it may not be able to support.

http://event.asus.com/2009/networks/printe...ort/rt_n56u.htm

Thank you

ASUSmy i am using RT-N56U and i would like to set static IPs for some of the devices in my network. however on my router page (DHCP section), i can only see the active clients in a drop-down menu. is there a way i can key-in the MAC addresses of non-active clients and set an static IP address for them?

thanks.

Hi lanux128,

You can do so by directly key in the MAC address and the IP address that you want.

Thank you
*
thanks, didn't know you can do that! smile.gif

ASUSmy if i leave my RT-N56U running overnight, the internet connection becomes intermittent. i have to power-cycle the router to make this go away. any ideas what could be the reason this happens?

thanks.

Hi lanux128,

May I know what is the current firmware you are using? The newest one is 3.0.0.4.374.130.

Thank you

i logged into the router and it shows the Firmware Version as 3.0.0.4.360 and i tried to check for updates within the page and i get a message saying i already have the latest.

i noticed that the numbering of the version is quite different from what you posted.

Hi ASUSmy,

updating to the new FW didn't fix the problem, i get the same issues as before. this is the message that appears when i try to login to the router page.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

however the IP address has not changed and i can ping any internet address and receive replies.

do you think i have a defective unit?

Hi lanux128,

Would you be able to log in to the router using the Device Discovery utility on the CD which is come with the router?

You can download it from the website also.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN56U/#support_Download_35

You can just download this utility "ASUS RT-N56U Device Discovery version 1.4.6.5". It will discover your asus router and allow you to configure it.

Thank you
*
Hi ASUSmy,

I tried the Discovery tool and faced the same problem. did some googling and found out that this DNS issue happens with most ASUS routers, esp. RT-N56U & RT-N66U. i seem to have gotten myself a "special edition" that has this issue. sad.gif

Hi lanux128,

Try do a factory reset, and redo the setting. If it is still same, you can send it over the place you bought to claim warranty.

Thank you

thanks ASUSmy! tried the factory reset and the router is working fine now. no more disruptions. thumbup.gif

Hi lanux128,

When you choose UNIFI-Home at our router, the LAN 4 port will be reserve for the hypptv. So just plug in the LAN cable between the LAN port 4 and the STB box and you are done.

Thank you

thanks for the answer, ASUSmy! smile.gif
