u missed clicking a box at the bottom of the page when selecting ppoe - to select unifi and maxis fiber.
i realize this thread does/may not incl the lower end models rt n12hp and rt n14hp but never mind... i had that problem and found the solution in this video which is repeated in this thread too:

anyway, just like to say i m very happy with this basic asus rt n12hp router that i just bought for rm199. for simple home wifi use, the coverage is strong and stable. will never use the orig unifi router again!
