QUOTE(ccmasia @ Dec 4 2010, 07:06 PM) Another one of sales gimmicks. 4G??? not. Another Wimax? Yes. i ask u all guys this laSpeedtest .... meaningless !!!!! Definately good speeds now 'cause minimum subscribers. Wait at least next 6 months. But lets see how good ... Threat was detected an hour after the launch. Yes website was allegedly targeted by malicious hackers and received “as many as 300,000 hits a second”. According to YTL’s CEO Wing K. Lee: “On top of legitimate customer traffic, we also experienced a series of hostile attacks. As a result, we had to take tedious steps of filtering individual blocks of IP addresses to stop the malicious attacks.” Reference: http://www.greyreview.com/2010/11/25/yes-4...l-explanations/ First, i-Burst 4G !!!!!!!! Next, P1 Wimax 4G !!!!!!!! Follows, FASTEST BROADBAND SERVICE IN MALAYSIA ~U MOBILE First to Deploy 42 Mbps Mobile Broadband Network~ Kuala Lumpur, 25 October 2010 – U Mobile today announced that they are taking the first steps to deploy their 42Mbps Mobile Broadband network. Capable of delivering online connection speeds of up to 42 Mb per second, this is deemed the fastest broadband to date in Malaysia and U Mobile is the first to deploy it. The Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, YB Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, together with YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, Chairman of U Mobile Sdn Bhd and Dr Kaizad Heerjee, Chief Executive Officer of U Mobile Sdn Bhd were present to celebrate this milestone. U Mobile will begin to deploy Dual-Cell HSPA+ (High-Speed Packet Access) connections that allow the network to send and receive wireless data using two channels simultaneously to achieve download speeds of up to 42Mbps. The first setup point will be in Berjaya Times Square. This will be followed by the commercial deployment of the service within Klang Valley starting with Subang Jaya and Sunway area and followed by Penang and Johor by end of the year. Now .... Yes 4G !!!!!! Misleading everyone defination of 4G Reference WIKI http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G In telephony, 4G is the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is a successor to 3G and 2G families of standards. A 4G system is expected to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based solution where facilities such as ultra-broadband (Giga-bit speed such as 1000+ MiB/s) Internet access, IP telephony, gaming services, and streamed multimedia may be provided to users. 4G is being developed to accommodate the quality of service (QoS) and rate requirements set by further development of existing 3G applications like mobile broadband access, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS), video chat, mobile TV, but also new services like HDTV. 4G may allow roaming with wireless local area networks, and may interact with digital video broadcasting systems. The 4G working group[clarification needed] has defined the following as objectives of the 4G wireless communication standard: Flexible channel bandwidth, between 5 and 20 MHz, optionally up to 40 MHz. A nominal data rate of 100 Mbit/s while the client physically moves at high speeds relative to the station, and 1 Gbit/s while client and station are in relatively fixed positions as defined by the ITU-R, A data rate of at least 100 Mbit/s between any two points in the world, Peak link spectral efficiency of 15 bit/s/Hz in the downlink, and 6.75 bit/s/Hz in the uplink (meaning that 1 Gbit/s in the downlink should be possible over less than 67 MHz bandwidth) System spectral efficiency of up to 3 bit/s/Hz/cell in the downlink and 2.25 bit/s/Hz/cell for indoor usage. Smooth handoff across heterogeneous networks, Seamless connectivity and global roaming across multiple networks, High quality of service for next generation multimedia support (real time audio, high speed data, HDTV video content, mobile TV, etc.) Interoperability with existing wireless standards, An all IP, packet switched network. Femtocells (home nodes connected to fixed Internet broadband infrastructure) Anyway, to all forum users, bear in mind latency times for any wireless broadband sucks. Online gaming always lag ... lag .. & lag. BT ..... ? Virtually impossible ... HTTP Downloading ...... ? Downloads Capped ... My guess is no matter how TM sucks.... Thumbs Up for TM Streamyx & Unifi. Virtually, 24/7 minimum 70% of speeds majority users. So my fellow forumers, for you to decide. yes offers pay as u use. if u lag or dl slow.. they make less revenue. so think b4 u post.. if yes base their revenue on dl, they would want to give u all good speed so they can make more money. please don assume first |

QUOTE(greatgreedyguts @ Dec 17 2010, 01:34 PM) u wait after alot of people jump ship you will be slowed down also, then we'll see if the company at like tm or not... i have already pointed it out.YES employs a pay as you use model. so with this model, it is logical to assume that YES would want to give u the best speed that they can, coz u dl more they earn more. i sell fried rice, sure i wan cook faster coz alot ppl buy ma...i sell more if i cook faster |

QUOTE(cy97 @ Dec 19 2010, 05:26 PM) I wonder why you speculate things that yet to happen n it could never happen! have u ever considered the cost of providing u the bandwidth? for wireless, it is definitely more costly as the bandwidth depends on ur spectrum and it is very costly and limited. for wireless, unlimited usage in the long run is definitely not viableThe so called light user is no longer light. Websites had becoming more n more data hungry! Most user will still go for unlimited data plan rather than payu! Payu should be history n I dun see any reason it can be successful. My prediction is YES would have to revamp their pricing strategy or risk being kick out of the race! |

QUOTE(dchk @ Jul 19 2011, 05:31 PM) Well, after 6 months of waiting without any insight on Yes, I guess everything about Yes is about guessing now. hi dhck, did u make sure ur speedtest was directed to the same test server on all tries? this is because the dl speed could be limited by that server itself rather than yes. What I mean by unstable. On the same location I have tried with modem on for 3 months without powering off, with testing on speedtest.net. On the same day testing, morning DL speed is 2.5MB, UP speed is 0.2MB, afternoon speed is 3MB, UP speed is 0.6MB, night time test DL speed is 5MB, UP speed is 0.8MB. I am not referring to the equipment you are using. I am referring to the possible brand of android phone you are using. While the buzz phone may be from Samsung, just look at the low spec. if u use maxis also, u use kl server sure get good speed. u try overseas server, then slow d, coz the packet go thru hops and this could influence the speedtest results Added on July 21, 2011, 11:47 am QUOTE(MsPopcorn @ Jul 19 2011, 05:04 PM) to miss popcorn, if dongle signal strong, at the same location ur zoom would do better, coz the antenna for the zoom has a better gainThis post has been edited by chickenshit36: Jul 21 2011, 11:47 AM |

QUOTE(xsaintzx @ Jul 24 2011, 11:53 PM) I want to use Yes Life plan for my phone, Samsung Galaxy S2 that is running Android. But so far only iOS has the Yes Life app right? hi saintzx,So that means I can't use any YES plan for my phone? I don't want to use any dongle or MiFi or anything, I want to stick with only my phone, I am using Maxis sub line of RM30 with no data. I want to use YES for my phone to online only. when u use yes life on maxis, basically the traffic to and from the app is still using 3G/2G network of ur phone( and wifi). if u want to be on the Yes network, u need a wimax device. so basically, if u make a call using yes life, u will be charged by yes, AND charged by ur network operator(for data usage). yes life is an app for you to make voip calls, its not a wimax device. this is important as there are people that thought using yes life to make calls home when they are overseas are cheap, but they end up using 3g roaming and pay the crazy data roaming prices of telcos. |

QUOTE(techhuan @ Jul 25 2011, 07:00 AM) If I have yes life on the IPad running and iPad is not sleeping, incoming call rings on the iPad only. If I put the iPad to sleep, only the analog phone connect to the zoom will ring. Even during a Yes life call, I can still call out using the analog phone. But the incoming call will not ring, just a tone on the analog phone to tell there is an incoming call. hi tech, from what i understand, only different devices can connect to the same account at same time, ie if u have 1 zoom, 1 huddle and 1 go, u can connect all to same account. But that doesn't answer the question, "can two zoom use the same Yes ID at the same time?" Anyone tried it personally? I had been getting mix answers, even from YTL. Some say can, others say cannot. but if 2 go or 2 huddle or 2 zoom cannot. @dinwaja in office lerr... |

QUOTE(ReVolVolution @ Aug 2 2011, 09:28 PM) So, if compare on speed between P1 and YES, YES would be better? rm 1199 but u can pay over 12 months using credit card right? To me, am just an average user. No gaming, just FB and occasional YouTube and movie downloads. With the basic plan of p1 - 384kbps speed, it's quite good but can forget about YouTube and downloading movies as it's gonna take forever! That's why I need to upgrade my package. If in terms of value, both are quite competitive but I guess being the new kid on the block, YES would have an added advantage. The only thing I don't like about YES is that it's prepaid and the amount is not small, ie rm1190 even though got credit and rebates. I would want the data plan only as I don't think I'll be using this as my call line. Added on August 2, 2011, 9:30 pm Wow! From 3mbps to 0.5mbps!!! That's quite a huge difference. Have you tried bandar kinrara puchong? |

QUOTE(SushiBurgerX @ Aug 11 2011, 12:04 PM) Hey, i am thinking changing from DIGI to YES...ok or not?? I am on DIGI Smartplan currently...my calls very little, mostly internet (not that much < 300MB a month)....DIGI internet really sucks for the last month or so...forever cannot connect to the Internet...only calls. yes minimum usage per month is rm 30, which is around 1gb if u follow their normal rates of 9 sen per 3mb.Any advise? u can also opt for the 3.5gb value pack for rm68, as the balance can be rolled over provided u reload within 30days. bear in mind u also have to get the dongle which is around rm 100. are u using this mainly as an internet connection or are u using it as ur main line? |

our network cannot work on 3g devices.
one way u can do it is to get the huddle, which is essentially a 4g wimax modem with a wifi access point. then u can use ur device to connect to huddle thru wifi. this means u have to take an extra device with u when u are going around. http://www.yes.my/v2/say-yes/huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot.do for more information |
