U-mobile is coming into the broadband scene as well. And their speed is 42MBps instead of Yes 16MBps. For RM68 you get 5GB from U. Instead of pathetic RM68 for 3.5GB from Yes. If they can provide that speed realistically, Yes is far from cheaper and fast. I am playing a wait and see game.

The also have a RM128 - 20GB as compared to RM150 - 10GB.

If Yes, wants to compete, they got to do better. Only thing I can say is, perhaps on coverage, they may lose out. But those of us in Klang Valley, are pretty safe.

aiyah, u go wiki the technology la. hspa+ and wimax. both also theoretical speed damn high, but actual speed? 3G theoretical speed and actual speed how much?

theoretical numbers are always diff.

if u wanna post ur views, i suggest u try umobile first only post here, otherwise it would be unfair to Yes right?

Oh, on your request for SpeedTest, that is somewhat useless. Here is why. I place Zoom modem on ground floor of living room for almost 4 months due to central locality of my other WIFI devices. Achieved DL 3MB and UP 1.5 consistently. Then, 2 months ago, I moved Zoom modem to 1st floor family hall, and I achieve DL 7MB and UP 3MB consistenly. So SpeedTest only tells one part of the story. Other things like elevation (I guess) apart from the strong signal coverage seems to have different effect on Speedtest reading.

i need to point out to u that ALL wireless technology are exposed to such problems due to the laws of physics. there are penetration losses when the signal needs to penetrate walls etc to get to your receiver.

3g and whatever G also follow the same law. it is physics. However, higher frequencies will experience higher losses as it travels thru the air.

Wimax is on 2.3Mhz band, 3G is 2.1Mhz, 2G is 900/1800Mhz.

u can say u get the signal the big 3 telcos easily, but notice carefully how often u get 3G signal. the telcos uses 2G to provide blanket coverage, and 3G is focussed on hi user areas for capacity purposes.

Yes doesnt have this advantage, neither does P1. remember how ppl made a big hooha when mcmc supposedly awarded Yes the 700Mhz band? the other operators were afraid that Yes would do the same if they were awarded the frequency.

That said, HSPA+ from umobile theoretically would have a very good speed coz new technology, but when it comes to real time usage, its yet to be known how fast it is until u can post a speedtest of it.

if users are smart they will know which company provides the best service, no need to go big hoo ha over it. In the movie industry, they will give u an exciting trailer to build up excitement over a new movie, but it remains to be seen if it is indeed a good movie.

Thanks for the link bro tALEz

with the Starter Pack, I just need to install the YES software to my PC, and I am just one step to surf the internet right?

RM3.5gb quota / month?
How much should I top-up for the following months? RM68 right?
I seems quite blur with the pricing
*
hi kane, the rates are 9sen per 3mb, 9sen per minit and 9sen per sms.

however u can opt for the valuepacks which are 3.5GB (i not sure how much sms/voice) for rm 68 or rm 150 for 10gb.

for the valuepacks, if u have balance and u top up again before 30 days, the remainder will be carried over.

example: u buy 3.5gb, after 28 days u use 2gb, remainder 1.5gb. u top up 29th day rm68, then the remainder will be carrried over as well. so ur total data is 3.5gb+1.5gb.

keep reloading before 30days every month and it will be like that. miss 1 time, then ur excess data all gone.

does YES mobile (voice & sms) coverage same with broadband coverage? means if our place dont have broadband coverage, we cannot receiving/sending sms/call?
*
hi, u can use yes life on ur iphone/android/pc to make voice and sms call, but standard internet charges apply.

for example, if u are maxis subscriber and have the yes life app on ur iphone, when u make voice call thru it, data will be charged to u by maxis and the voice call will be charged 9sen/min by Yes.

Guys

The Huddle's WiFi range - when set to shortest 8dBM - my galaxy tab keeps showing signal only 2/3rd the strength even when there is direct line of sight (less than a meter away). It goes full only when I put the huddle next to the tab. If I turn my back i.e. I put the huddle behind me - WiFi signal strength falls and fluctuates between 1 and 2 - even at less than a meter away  - is this normal? I've tried changing the strength in the setup to both medium 11dBm and long 14dBm, with no discernible difference.
*
hi im not too sure what options are in ur huddle, but i think u can change the wifi channels. there are like >10 channels to choose from.

try a different channel and see if the signal strength improves.

the logic is that, if ur on the same channel as another wifi router, then there is interference and ur signal is affected. could be wrong, but its worth a shot.
