Hi guys after reading this thread and also going thru YES website Im still confused with the package they are offering..

I wanna get this Broadband for my netbook..
So first I need to get the Go Starter Pack which is RM100..
Then after that should i purchase any other package as well in order to use Internet? rclxub.gif

Please do help me guys...Thanks.. notworthy.gif

Can use straight away.
Just in future, you need to top up once no money inside, just like prepaid phone.

Or

subscribe the 68 package as monthly charge (3.5GB) which is cheaper.

Thanks guys..
Now I know what to do..
Since im going to use it for light internet surfing and email,I think I'll try with Starter Pack and if the speed is really good then will get valupack after my credit finish..

Since this starter pack is that pack alone which mean Im not tied with any contracts right..
In case the speed is not good,I can just keep that pack with me right..?

Another thing I saw in FAQ they said must use minimum RM30 per month..
22. Do I still have to use a minimum of RM30 monthly when I purchase the Go Starter Pack?

The minimum usage of RM30 will take effect after the second bill cycle.
What does this mean?
*
No contract.

Don't want to use, leave it.

But they will charge Rm30 as basic monthly charges.
Use RM30 for the month, no extra commitment charge
Use Rm20, charge Rm10
Use Rm10, charge Rm20.

Basically, at least Rm30 will be gone from your prepaid each month. (start from second month, so first month no use, no charge RM30, only charge what you have used)

It is quite good for light surfing.
Speedtest wise, consistently get >5mbps with 2 bar signal.

You can keep the pack, but once credit runs out, you need to top up in 3 months time, so that the account is not deactivated, as far as I read the Faq.

Added on July 10, 2011, 4:46 pmI bought the Go started pack.
Straight away can use on the spot.

true...that means the more you use...the more you pay. In the end, customers lose out (expensively)
*
I don't categorize as lose out.

This feature will ensure, no people hogging of bandwidth, which in turn better speed for all users.

This is same with phone call, you use you pay. May be the rate of per MB is debatable.

Since streamyx has a package of unlimited free land line call. A few of my relatives keep on use the phone, and talk for hours, hogging the phone and talk about trivia issue all the time. doh.gif

do we need to inform YES for termination or just ignore without reloading
*
There is no termination fee or procedure as far as I know.

Since it is prepaid, you never sign any contract, so don't need to terminate.

Out of credit for 3 months, auto-terminated.

had not been used since i couldn't claim my rebate for my go which don't comes with serial number from last year. and my account states i'm owing them rm180 going to rm210 soon.
*
Huh?
The FAQ stated clearly, the number/account will be terminated after 3 months run out of credit. blink.gif

RM180, means >6 months already?

My speed using Yes, is always at around 5-6 mbps, quite satisfy with it.

Normal usage like FB, email, ordinary surfing usage is about Rm50 per month, average around RM2 per day, (not using valuepack, PAYU).

The good is if no use time, doesn't need to pay (if already use RM30).

Quite a decent as secondary Broadband or light usage.

Added on August 3, 2011, 2:23 pmWhat I like the most is, simply just bought a Go Starter Pack, scratch the password, viola, straight away can use.
Don't need register, wait for activation, instant online, like those 3G BB.

Go Starter Pack is sold at Rm100, with Rm50 rebate inside which can be used straight away, and come with Dongle.
So indirectly, the Dongle only cost Rm50.

mobile wimax is only near-4G or pre-4G only. in short,to advertise their products as full fledged 4G, do u think it is honest enough? so not fair.

Added on August 19, 2011, 2:36 amp/s : not only me have this thought...u can refer to other topics...
*
Actually, pre-4G or not, just academic issue only.
I don't see much an issue for ordinary users like us.
Yes, advertisement sometimes boosting,
but it is quite norm across in advert industry,
it is not limited to BB or Telcos, we also see a lot of advertisement stated as low as RMx.xx but after enquiry, mostly cannot get the "as low as" that price because or T&C.

Users only concern what speed can be delivered, the quality of the delivery, and the cost, disregard being advertised as 3G, 3.5G, or 5G.

Added on August 19, 2011, 4:38 pmJust like when ADSL started time, people said it has capability of 4Mbps or 8Mbps, new tech, so good, whatever G anyone want to label it,
but subscribers only can get 512kbps or 384kbps only.

I don't know why lot of people single out YES is expensive.

Yes, 3.5GB for RM68
D - 3GB for Rm58/68
M - 3GB for RM68
C - 3GB for Rm68

All wireless BB pricing is roughly the same.
If Yes is expensive, so does the rest.

While if compared Yes with Streamyx.
Streamyx highly is definitely cheaper if one constantly hog the line one.

But with streamyx, it is impossible to have more than 4Mbps.
To have 4Mbps, it cost Rm140, which is near to 10GB of YES valuepack.

But YES can have higher speed than 4Mbps streamyx.
and have mobility.
Streamyx, if you need it at 2 place, you need 2 subscription.

So it is very difficult to say which one is definitely better than the others.
It depends one pattern of usage, depends which is suit to.

QUOTE(dchk @ Sep 24 2011, 09:30 PM)
guess u miss the part about Klang Valley. One thing is true, all ISP has a theoretical max speed, but only achieves 1/3 if they are lucky. While I do not dispute Yes speed, I am mostly making a point on the bandwidth allocation in terms of cost per MB.

if we are lucky and Yes does take note of their competitor, than we should expect Yes to come up with a better package such as RM68 - 7GB.

Wishful thinking anyway for now.
*
Nobody care what is the theorectical max speed, what the advertisement or even package stated how fast is the speed.
Users only care what is the speed they are getting, what they are experiencing and that's why people posted in this topic.

For me if there is valuepack Rm68 - 5GB is good enough already.

Possible, if competition intensify.
Now we see, Celcom got RM68 - 4GB.

guys, is the Go Starter Pack worth to invest?

I only need to pay RM100 1 time and can start surfing?
Anything else did I miss?
*
Yes, you can straight away use and online with password provided in the scratch card.

Pay RM100, you get a dongle, and rebate RM50 for you to surf.
Nothing else you need.

Thanks for the link bro tALEz

with the Starter Pack, I just need to install the YES software to my PC, and I am just one step to surf the internet right?

RM3.5gb quota / month?
How much should I top-up for the following months? RM68 right?
I seems quite blur with the pricing
*
Yes, with RM100 GO start pack, install the "Connect" software" then plug in the dongle will do.

If you buy the valuepack Rm68 you get 3.5GB, which valid for 1 month.

If you don't want to buy the valuepack, you surf based on 3 cents pricing.

From my experience, near window, and more open space, always can get better signal bar.

dude, any valuepack (68 or 150) will overtake ur current plan (PAYU)... VP is the priority. anyway, that YES credit come with ur pkg is FREE...so no point in arguing. let say u purchased VP68 today....and u finish it in 2 weeks then u repurchased again,so the validity date will start counting on ur latest purchased. that is how their system works. yeah, as customer, we feel this is not good....

Added on October 7, 2011, 7:08 pmp/s : ANY BALANCE FROM FREE CREDITS OR REBATES WILL NOT BE CARRY FORWARD.IT WILL BURN. USE IT UP.
*
I don't think it is not good or not.
Already used up the quota given/boought, no complaint about it.

As Yes counted/charged based on used bandwidth, not monthly charges all the while.
You buy the quota not validity period.

Validity period is to ensure users consume it, same with the intention of RM30 min charges.

I am ok with VP, that the remaining unused quota can be accumulated when renewing the VP.

But still hope, they can give better offer with RM68, like for 5GB.

hello guys .. want to ask ...

let say u have starter pack 30 ringgit . then next month u wanna reload only 10 ringgit ..

can or cannot ? or must reload 30 ringgit ? .. kinda confuse about this 10 ringgit reload ...
*
Can, as long as you got the balance, can use already.

But after next month, if use up 10 and never top up, a 20 will be charged, aka account show -20, due to minimum 30.

QUOTE(fromktn @ Oct 23 2011, 09:35 PM)
if i reload rm10.00 if i only use rm5.00 this month after a month can i use it or i must reload again
*
The credit is there forever, but will be charged min 30 every month, if no use.
if use 5, then charge 25.
if use 30, no charge.

No matter how, you will be charged 30 min per month.

so the existing credit burn or i need to finish the credit ?

let say

this month got 35 ringgit in the account next month i reload 30 ringgit

it should top up rite . or the last month 35 ringgit burn ?
*
Credit will not expire.
But they will charge min 30 per month, or must use 30 per month.
No matter how, a min spending 30 is required.

Credit will be brought forward one.
This month got 35 balance (and you have use more than 30), the 35 will still there.
Next month reload 30 become 65.

are there any significant performance differences in between the huddle and the dongle ? unsure.gif

if I were to subscribe with the RM68 package, and I did not used up all the quota will it be carried forward to the next month ?

Yes, quota will be carried forward if continue to buy/subscribe the valuepack 68.

does YES mobile (voice & sms) coverage same with broadband coverage? means if our place dont have broadband coverage, we cannot receiving/sending sms/call?
*
It should be the same, as it works based on the wireless BB connection, aka it is a voip.
Not 100% sure on this.

You cannot online anymore, if run out of quota, or run out of credit.
It will re-direct you the "out of credit?" Yes website.
