QUOTE(Dis.Astranagant @ Feb 24 2011, 02:16 PM)
Hello,

I'm planning to buy an iPhone 4 16GB with maxis under contract. I have a few questions in mind that I'd like to clarify before I proceed on with the purchase:

1. I'm considering to apply for iValue 1 plan, what I need to know is how much do I have to pay upfront? I'm somewhat confused with the prepayment of monthly fees as stated on the Maxis webpage. Assuming that I plan to go for a 12-month contract on a 16GB model, the prepayment of RM200, is it included in the phone price itself (meaning iPhone 4 RM1490 + prepayment RM200 = RM 1690) or is it calculated as a separate payment (iPhone 4 RM1690 + prepayment RM200 = RM1890)?

2. I would like to know what is the difference between iValue and iData plans? Also, which of the two plans do Maxis iPhone users typically go for?

I would greatly appreciate any response to my queries. Thanks.  smile.gif

I'll try answering your questions the best i can;

1. It is RM1890 just as u calculated..the rm200 will be deducted in your 1st 5 statements i.e. rm 40 per month.

2. iValue(1,2,3 & 4) plan is the package where the line charges and data usage n other benefit are included..whereas iData plan is only for data plan that is paired with current value50@80@etc..for details,please browse thorugh maxis official website or their qualified CS..most of iphone users picked the ivalue plan..if u compare the benefit between these 2 plans,the most noticable diff is the free data usage given.

Some additional suggestions and advice from me;

a) they're 2 telcos that officially sell iphone 4with plan,maxis n digi..both have pros n cons..if u want an unlimited plan where it doesn't charge normally after exceed limit,or mostly be in urban areas, maintainence-free(bill-wise)then u should go for digi..but if u want wide coverage n don't mind paying more,then go for maxis..please be informed that if u go for maxis,u really need to know the tips n tricks to avoid billshock because maxis will charge u at normal rate if exceed limit(rm0.05/1KB)..THE 1ST MONTH BILL IS THE MOST DANGEROUS WHERE U CAN EASILY GET BILLSHOCK..if u can master them tricks,then u'll be fine.

b) so,do an honest assessment in terms of internet data usage..choose wisely.

c) get as much information as u can until u're satisfied to make a decision. it'll help u in the time of need.

Happy choosing biggrin.gif

Is there any sure win method to check on the ivalue usage? Dun wanna get bill shock on my first mnth thanks

There's no way to check with maxis of how much data u've used until it has been billed in your statement..the best n logical way to monitor it is by viewing in Settings>General>Usage n add up the sent n received Cellular Data Network. To avoid billshock for your 1st bill,u've to do these things;

1) check when is your billing date..to identify this, go to https://www.maxis.com.my/eservices/userlogin.asp, n check your statement date there, OR just call 123 n choose ask the CS directly.

2) when u know your exact statement date,calculate how many days from the day u've activated your ivalue plan(in your case 18 feb 2011,based on your previous comments)..e.g my statement date is on the 14th of every month n i activated my ivalue plan on 26th sept 2010..so i only have 19 days of free data usage..now, 19 days X 33mb(1GB divide by 30days) = 633 MB..this is my actual free data usage for the 1st month,not 1GB..the 1GB full free usage will applicable in your 2nd month's statement onwards..my case is that i have exceed it until 800+ MB that month..so i have to pay for the charges..so,learn from my mistake(also maxis mistake coz they don't inform me about this)..to be safe,after these calculation,keep a spare of at least 100mb below your calculated usage coz the billing date may differ 1-2 days.

3) have the habit of resetting your cellular data every month(when bill date passed) to ensure the usage data in your iphone is nearest to the actual,if not accurate.

4) maxis also gave me an sms when i used 800mb out of the 1GB.

5) use wifi when available to u,n make sure to turn off any maxis-related toogles(except maybe the line itself) when using wifi.

FYI,i'm received my 5th month statement n got no bill shock after the 1st one..my average usage is 800+ mb per month.

Hi may i ask some question for better understanding about my maxis postpaid bill?

This is what i get after i key in *100#

1. Under Current & Outstanding balance

Bill Summary
Total amount Due  = RM23.70
Current Bill(Due Date) = RM63.68(26/03/2011)
Balance f/d(overdue) = RM-39.98
2. Unblilled amount & credit Limit

Unbilled amount = RM3.49(as of 25/02/2011 10AM)
Credit limit at a/c level = RM200.00
May i know what is what please? blink.gif

*additional info : i sign up my ivalue plan and get my iphone on the 17th feb 2011

Please advice and thankyou very much notworthy.gif

I can't answer all,but i'll answer what i do know,

1) Total Amount Due is the amount u have to pay.
Current Bill(Due Date) is your line charges BEFORE minus any advanced payments,rebates n discounts.
Balance f/d = i'm not sure,but the direct calculation for this is your RM63.68-RM23.70.

2) Unbilled amout is your current usage from bill date BEFORE minus any advanced payments,rebates n discounts.
Credit Limit level is the maximum amount allowed AFTER minus any advanced payments,rebates n discounts..RM200 is the minimum amount that can be set for ivalue 1.

Okay, thanks for your prompt reply. Because i sign up 1value 1 package. So i did pay an upfront of RM200 for first 5 months. which also means assuming i really just used rm100 in a month..so they will minue out the rm40? and then total amount due there by that time will be rm60? isit like that?

but i don't get it. shocking.gif  before 2 days ago or 3..the unbilled amount is rm 30+ stated until 2 days ago..it started with rm2+ only? don't it start to recalculate after 1 month from my date of start? this is so confusing  rclxub.gif
*
Theoretically,the basic calculation of RM100-RM40(RM200 divide by 5-months) is true..BUT,be informed that the amount is excluding tax(now 6%) or any value-added service like post aid top-up,printed-bill,international sms n calls,etc..for me,the lowest payable amount for the 1st 5 statements was RM72.00+.

For your 2nd para,the simple explanation is that maxis has start your new month billing cycle..so,my advice to u is be EXTRA careful for this month..if u don't know the tips n tricks to avoid billshock,i suggest u minimise the internet usage from your iphone for this month until u know the where-how..there are tons of suggestions in the forum..or,u can just click on my nickname n search for my previous posts..i've previously gave almost the same advice before.

Okay so I bought the iphone brought it home and the battery died. Then I charged for awhile and it turn back on.  After that it randomly shuts down and restart again. the battery icon shows fully charge with 1% of battery...then after awhile it shuts off again and restarted.. I don't even know whether the phone is charging or not? what should I do now?

I just did a trial and error and it only shuts down and restart if I charge it..

What is that even mean??

Hey! my iphone4 contract with maxis is ending soon and I'm not sure on what it does after the contract expires, for those here who experienced this, normally what do you reckon?

Continue or downgrade the plan or etc. ? need some advice..
*
Your issue is same as me..my contract also expiring this sept 2011..As what i'm told by the staff in Maxis KLCC,if nothing is done by user to renew or terminate the contract,maxis will charge normally using the current plan,in our cases is iValue plan until we renew the contract officially..i'm thinking to go back to maxis klcc to get further info on this
