Just tried my luck ordering with my Malaysian credit card today and got the below notification in my email after 15 mins later, followed by my credit card's authorizer team (AKA the fraud prevention unit) calling my phone to confirm my traxn:
Ships: 27/08/2010
Delivers: 31/08/2010

Based on my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong):
The Auth. Team personnel called me to double confirm on the traxn as Apple may have charge the sum as some sort of retainer fund (like what ysc said, blocking the sum)
However the traxn will be in "floating" status until Apple ships it out and then the company will make its official claim for funds from the bank.
If it is due to misc. issues whereby the shipping is cancelled, then Apple will either let the traxn's "floating' timeframe lapse by itself or it will just send out memo to their own merchant bank that they shall not proceed with their claim and void the traxn.

QUOTE(jonathan82 @ Aug 17 2010, 02:29 PM) hm...i ordered on 5th of Aug not sure why is that..maybe need to wait a few more days n see lo Well, as I was using an HSBC card to order similarly on 5th of Aug too and had my status changed to Prepared for Shipment, I have checked with the bank this morning (around 3:45 am) that Apple hasn't charge my card yet... Which is contrary to the Auth. Dept personnel who called me during my order day on 5th August.....weird However I am keeping my fingers crossed....
