I called Apple Malaysia and spoke to 1 of the fella. He said, I can use American Express to buy the iPhone 4 and ship to singapore. The excuse used was, my son is studying in SG and I am from Malaysia. I would like to buy the phone for my son via online and ship to his house so he can claim warranty if anything goes wrong. laugh.gif

So I just tried to order my iPad camera kit via online store to test my American Express(Amex) and the process when through. I put the billing + shipping add to his house. They send an email regarding the camera kit and ETA is Aug 18. So I will see how it goes. tongue.gif

ur amex is original amex or maybank amex? i was thinking of asking my aunts in sg to help me purchase via apple online store using their local CC then ship to their sg address. hopefully by friday, sg apple online store will make it clear whether their online purchased iphone4 is officially unlock or not tongue.gif

but good news is i travel to kl frequently so maybe can meet them up and cut my sim....ehehe tongue.gif
anyway, got at least 2ppl reported that they use local malaysia citibank credit card to online purchase iphone4 in UK (ship to UK address) without any problem so whoever has citibank credit card maybe in luck and can try to purchase sg iphone4 (ship to sg address) then report bck here notworthy.gif

Nice to meet you.. So, this prove that Apple will accept any Credit card world wide & ship locally.. er.. Once i got my iphone4.. I will walk to Maxis for Micro SIM.. But, it holds the advantages by modifying the SIM to Micro Sim too. In such we can still "restore" to normal sim and use it in others phone..
*
well, for this moment, not sure whether all credit cards are reported to be working fine with apple online....only citibank has the best chance to hit jackpot coz two of those ppl also using citibank tongue.gif

yup, its good tat we cut the sim ourself then next time we can use the micro sim to normal sim adapter if we use other phone (i doubt that iphone users will switch to phone other than iphone coz me myself reluctant to switch to other phone since i got my iphone 2 in mid 2007 tongue.gif )

I'm not sure whether maxis will give bck our normal sim card or not after we ask maxis to change to micro sim. anyone change to micro sim through maxis and care to share here?

Sorry if this question is asked before.. but is Singapore Iphone4 unlocked so I can use Maxis or other country sim card?

Will I be taxed when coming back to Malaysia if I go Singapore and buy??
*
aiyo bro....read earlier post carefully lehh doh.gif .....up until this moment, iphone4 still sells as OFFICIALLY UNLOCK set unless on friday M1, Starhub, Singtel, apple online store, etc etc announce other wise (which is unlikely coz sg got law forbids carrier monopoly any phone)

one question guys, the Assisted GPS used in iphone4 is using wifi/3G data to triangulate your position or used SiRFstar III microcontroller to decode the signal from satelite and determine ur location?

this depends on which nav software you use.

for Goolge maps it uses both so fixing your position is fast and data to load maps.
tomtom / papago - no wifi/3g is fine - maps is preinstall , however fixing takes a bit more time
*
thanks smile.gif ....tat means iphone4 has SiRFstar III microcontroller chip inside, jst depends on which software we use.
hm...not sure whether iphone apps got garmin software or not? ehehe, already biasa using garmin liao...

If that is true it depends on your bank i guess... I never gotten any additional charges for international transactions before.

Just that sometimes bank exchange rates are high.
*
yup, agreed tat bank exchange rate are much higher than the currency exchange shop's rate.
anyway, has anyone try using same 2 malaysia cc (under the same name) and buy 4 iphone at one time (each card buy 2 iphone)?

Well, as I was using an HSBC card to order similarly on 5th of Aug too and had my status changed to Prepared for Shipment, I have checked with the bank this morning (around 3:45 am) that Apple hasn't charge my card yet...

Which is contrary to the Auth. Dept personnel who called me during my order day on 5th August.....weird blink.gif

However I am keeping my fingers crossed....
*
jst called CC service center and the operator told me apple has already charge 4K++ to my account d....hope that i can get ip4 earlier rclxm9.gif

yes, you can use your malaysia cc to order in sg apple store. Address will not be a problem. You will need to go to singapore to pick up the phone though.
*
just one question, do we need to personally present at sg there to collect ip4? or jst the person that we put "attention to" during online purchase?

QUOTE(borgun @ Sep 10 2010, 10:43 PM)
omg.. im not gonna quote anybody, but sadly, senior members are acting like newbies! c'mon guys. don't kacau other ppl's business la. whatever price the seller is putting up, its really up to them. If u can buy the phone at the same price apple SG is selling, then go buy urself.
there's high demand for iphone 4 at the moment, and some ppl are fortunate that they can 'import' it or in other words 'help' to buy it and bring it over for us. so what if they wanna mark up a bit to do business?? as 'ysc' has mentioned in his reply, and i totally agree, the process is quite a hassle and it's not easy to bring it over here.

and please.. don't simply ask questions. the process of buying it has been clearly stated in the first page and has been answered countless times in this thread. read up lerrr
*
yup....agree with u borgun. seller is not forcing anyone to buy the phone, if buyer feel the price is reasonable then buyer buy. If the so-called senior member said its expensive, then he can sendiri go buy himself and wait for 2-3weeks to get the phone at the price of SGD888, then perhaps he will know actually paying RM200 extra to avoid all the hassle is worth the money biggrin.gif

some other ppl jst don't read properly before ask, first page already stated clearly how to buy iphone4 from sg, yet ppl still blindly ask....hoping that someone will spoon feed them...sigh.....

3gs 16gb also same capacity at 14.3gb only. should be same on the ip4 16gb as well  nod.gif

nod.gif Same here....
*
QUOTE(gurus @ Sep 13 2010, 11:05 AM)
i doubt that there is an iphone 16gb with more than 14.3gb(actual capacity), all should be the same sweat.gif
*
QUOTE(davidmak @ Sep 13 2010, 04:05 PM)
You most likely will not get near that capacity since the file system has overhead, addressing, etc. Some of the capacity is used for device dependent files which is transparent to the user. So the user end up getting lesser capacity. Of course this is still acceptable from the industry perspective.

Thanks guys, just wanna confirmed that it is not seen at only 1 SG set iphone4 smile.gif
