I will working part time ( a few weeks) at shopping mall... The place is kinda open car park !

So, I m thinking to buy Steerling lock or Pedal lock ? Or its not necessary ?

should I also put " unbreakable" wear on the steering ? look ugly...

pick your choice or get both...

most ppl would agree to get brake pedal lock as it is more secure... but you need to remember to open the lock before driving... if you have extra budget, got the type that tap to your ignition so that you can't start until you open the lock...

or, the steering lock will work as well... though no extra features...

anyway, thief usually dont bother to touch the car when they see the car got extra security like steering lock or brake pedal lock... unless they're really determined...

RM100 is not a bad investment for pedal lock. But the word unbreakable is wrong. For RM100, I doubt you can get something lock mechanism that is unbreakable. You can use it long term and it does give you car one more layer of protection. So go ahead and get it.

pedal lock only , steering waste of money .
why they could just saw a bit of your steering wheel to loose the lock.
unless you change ur steering wheel to steel of coz.
but its mighty dangerous if u had an accident later!!!

I myself got a pedal lock for my car around 300 including installation.Since then,i ditched off my steering lock which i have been using before i bought the p.lock.
Quite convenient than s.lock as you just need to slot in the key and unlock it where as you have to unlock and take out and put somewhere bla bla for the s.lock.
Personally i would say pedal lock does a better job,but both wil be a good combo if you have a eye catchy civic or something.

I have witnessed a myvi installed with a brake pedal lock almost bang the car parked in front of the Myvi when the owner forgot to release the lock.
Apparently, the brake pedal lock still allow a small free play on the brake pedal thus allowing the owner to shift the gear to D while the brake remain locked.

I've been using this for almost 10 years dy laugh.gif

It can be abit inconvenient since need to take out and place somewhere else, and some cars can't fit it (ie, my old Waja can't use it)

Inconvenience very true. But because of that the thief without keys.... i dunno how is he going to manage. I got mine cheap with Jusco voucher that time. Less than RM100.

The thief can try to pick the lock......mine uses dimple key which supposedly takes longer to pick, so I think it's deterrent enough.

Indeed it is inconvenient but due to its portability, it can be double up as a defense weaponry in the even of road bully.

2 same cars park side by side. One has lock, the other does not. Guess which one the thief will steal?

Most car thefts are theft of opportunity, not planned beforehand.

s.lock is easy to spot but p.lock not by theft. so i think if there are two cars, one p.lock and one s.lock, the theft will immediately turn attention to car with p.lock cause he dont see the lock.

The problem here is when you start the engine when gear is at P, the design fault of the pedal lock allows a small free play to enable you to step on the brake pedal and release the Shift-lock to move the gear to D.
I'm talking those hidden type pedal lock where car owner tend to forget the brake pedal was locked.

Proton no need lock. If sufficiently insured, it is better of to get indemnified for being stolen then selling at market price.

the pedal lock are connected to a socket in ur car when you installed,it is to prevent u to start ur car when ur lock still engage
as i knw for my city 2012,if u didn't start ur car even u step on the brake also u can't move the gear shift
it is troublesome sometimes but i feel like it is more secure thn normal shift lock button
