BTW DIgital Copy already available. And the price is SG$109 which will make it 250 + since SG dollar stronger than Malaysian Ringgit. So those hpoing to get cheaper digitally, forget it.

It's 60USD if you change your region to US which is supposed to be price entry point for AAA games these days. I suppose this means no entry for SEA servers. This RM250 price point is a bit ridiculous - who can we blame for this? Unboxing the standard edition was a very disappointing experience.

Ehhh... this is damned annoying.

Just checked play-asia. They're selling SC2 SEA version @ USD63.90 Which works out to roughly RM205.

Seriously, the local distributors don't really care about developing the local scene but are more concerned with profiteering of the hardcore.

Hmm...wonder they only gave us a cheapo sleeve for the CD... plastic case also cannot give r... lol

That's what i thought when i opened the box.

To put it into perspective i got my LE copy of bioshock 2 for about RM260 after discounts which came with a vinyl record, hardcover art book, cd soundtrack in addition to the game. It's extremely disappointing for me at least.

is RM 205 inclusive shipping to Malaysia? hmm.gif biggrin.gif

http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-7s-49-en-70-3vzb.html is the page.

It's free shipping to malaysia actually, but from past experience this can take up to two weeks. You can pay extra for fedex options.

well From the BIZ business point those hardcopy not really important at all because u can compare the price from the digital copy with the retail package only few rm different I guess they only more focus on CD KEY and account status price value over client games copy.

plus from the battlenet account they also allow us to download the client for free from anywhere in the world. so CE collection only might be worth abit to collect as the price also can buy 2 copy of the game it self.
*
Dude, US version is 60USD for both retail (from amazon) and digital (from battle.net).

Are we paying more because we're richer than the yanks?

time to take down some korean.. they should put win on country on bnet... that would be like headhunting type of fun:P

Except because our keys are region locked, we can't play against koreans because they have their own servers. Correct me if i'm wrong.

If they were charging USD$77 to Americans, you can expect a huge uproar over there. People will be writing about it and you'll get a million online petitions. But tiny little SEA, no one gives a damn, or maybe people here don't give a damn themselves.

If I'm not mistaken there is an offline mode built in to the system. Correct me if I'm wrong.
*
I think the people do care, it's either that people don't know or it's the fanboi apologists who're making it seem like it's ok to pay RM250 or USD17 more than the americans.

It's almost as if they're making us pay Ozzie prices yawn.gif

Wow, okay that wasn't very smart of them. So to maintain offline mode they have to keep the game running  doh.gif
*
I thought offline mode was offline but that you had to log back in every 30 days or something like that (unverified - picked up from somewhere on official forums)

I think achievements are down at the moment - and you have to be online for achievements.

It's the IAH servers..

I've already stated my reasons. You can search for my posts or check my blog.

Read your blog, I only found out about the price difference on launch day(after i bought it and realised i couldn't really communicate with my EU friends). Kudos for not giving in to the temptation.

Unfortunately, I caved and am now cursing myself for not doing more research on this.

Why not get US version then? I was getting it till they announced that we can play on US
*
You probably should have gotten the US edition since it's cheaper and if you're not going to be using the SEA servers you're just giving the money to IAH and supporting their profiteering.

In any case you can't play in US yet. And not for another 2 months or so.

brrr... everytime someone mentions IAH i get horror flashbacks from the hellgate:london fiasco.

They promised US not EU

I don't know what they promised, all i know is that on warcraft 3 i remember being able to play across different realms.

Naah, and get stuck with the region lock and using proxy? Not worth the hassle.

and hang on i thought it was the keys that are region locked, not the game itself.

Well, the whole region issue thing is pretty much killed by Blizzard since you will need to logon to your region Battle.net. Buying US version also gets you a US key, which I highly doubt you can register in sea.battlenet.
*
I know that's not the case because my battle.net account is originally an EU account with an EU WOW profile. I can manage my SEA SC2 account and EU Wow account through the same login. In fact, It's quite easy to change regional settings once you have logged onto battle.net.

I think it's dependent on the game ie you can have multiple region games on your one Battle.net account. Still you buy US version you cannot login to sea.battlenet for SC2. SEA region SC2 login to sea.battlenet for SC2. Has anyone with a US version been able to logon to the SEA servers?

PS : Like in your case, you will logon to EU server for WoW and SEA servers for SC2.
*
My googling fails and i can't find a single faq over this region locking thingy. From what i understand SEA players will be allowed to play on the US servers but only by creating a new ID specifically for the US. Which means that achivements, friends lists and so on won't carry over to the US.

Attempting to post on the US forums, there's a message which specifies that i don't have a license for that region even though i am already logged into battle net. This leads my to believe that i can add US access and EU access irrespective of my geographical region onto battle.net by buying additional licenses specifically for this region.

If anything, I can post on SEA SC2 forums but that's just full of Australians complaining about being stuck on servers with asians. really.

With this whole region hullabaloo, I've only played the 1st campaign mission and will probably leave it till they sort out the US license issue.

Even when WoW was just released, there were numerous server hiccups/issues. Should improve given time.

Ah but then you didn't have IAH running the servers
